The following are previous humanoid / cryptid encounter reports received by various agencies worldwide:

WILD MAN

Near Strasburg, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania - August 1978 - afternoon

Three Amish men were working in their field when a odd looking man approached them from the direction of a neighboring farm. The man was yelling and jumping about. The Amish men were alarmed and noticed that this 'man' had arms, legs and a face that seemed different...more animal than human. He had coarse dark hair on his limbs and face and wore what appeared to be a dark colored and tattered pair of old style boxer shorts. As the man-creature approached closer, he was yelling something but it was not understood by the men.

The men ran towards their house...the man-creature was right behind them. One of the Amish men ducked into the dairy barn and the other two immediately went in the house. An elderly Amish woman who had been in the garden, came to see what was going on. When the man-creature saw her it suddenly stopped running, sat down on the grass and remained quiet while staring at the sky.

The men came out of the house and one of them slowly walked over to the man-creature and attempted to talk to it. The man-creature continued to look at the sky but started to mumble. The man and woman noticed that a horrible stench permeated from this creature...described at rotting flesh.

After several minutes, the creature got to it's feet and started to walk towards the dairy barn. As it did, the witnesses noticed that the creature started to 'fade away'...eventually it completely disappeared from view just before it reached the barn. Shocked, the Amish witnesses dropped to their knees...not knowing what they had witnessed.

NOTE: this account was communicated by one of the witnesses to a non-Amish friend who periodically purchased produce from them. It was disclosed to me several years after the incident though I do know the location of the incident and who two of the witnesses were (I was raised in the general area). The other witnesses have since passed away. The witness who gave the account still lives at the location and has (reluctantly) verified the incident to me. In turn, I promised to keep personal information confidential.

Historically, Wild Men and/or Bigfoot-like creatures have become part of the Lancaster / York County folklore. There have been sightings as old as the earliest settlers in this area as well as the Susquehannock people who inhabited the land previously.

In 1987, I had a conversation with a self-described shaman whose Susquehannock relatives had moved to Ohio after many others were killed off by smallpox and invading settlers. The Susquehannocks were said to be 'giants' by John Smith and the early settlers...most described as being 'well over 6 foot high' and broad chested. This shaman told me that the Susquehannocks had placed a curse on the land before they left and that the dead would rise as shape shifters and torment the white man...Lon

CURIOUS HUMANOIDS

Near Viale, Entre Rios, Argentina - August 1987 - afternoon

A lone hunter was out in a wooded area collecting firewood for the long stay in the area when he suddenly felt a sense of "adventure" or laziness as he put it. He stopped whatever he was doing and looked around him looking for something to do in order to "recreate" himself. He noticed nearby some brush moving aside and expected some type of animal to suddenly come out, but to his great surprise two strange figures emerged from the brush, both appeared identical to each other, both in appearance and clothing style. At first he thought these were hunters but was surprised as to how they were able to cross the river without any difficulty. He saluted the figures in a friendly manner, but they ignored him but suddenly stopped at about 30 meters from the witness.

Curious he approached the pair and as he did he noticed that they wore a one-piece tight-fitting rose-colored coveralls, it was so tight-fitting that it clearly showed the creature's body contours. They were not taller than 1.50m and their thin bodies did not appeared to be in proportion to their large heads. They had large staring eyes without eyebrows, with a very small nose and very thin almost unseen lips. Their heads were totally bald and very wide. One of them was carrying something resembling a thin rod in his hand. The witness could not distinguish if the rod was a separate instrument or an extension to the hand.

As the witness attempted to walk away his body suddenly became numb...he wanted to walk but could not but strangely he remained calm. At that moment one of the humanoids grinned as if to say that everything was going to be OK...that they were his friends. The humanoids then continued on their way at a slow pace, apparently floating just above the ground. The moment that they disappeared into the brush the witness was able to immediately move again. He then returned home canceling his hunting trip.

Viale, Entre Rios, Argentina - August 1987 - 5:00 pm

Several youths were walking along a stream in order to find a suitable spot to fish when they suddenly came upon a very short creature only about 1/2 meter in height. It had a large oval shaped head and somewhat disproportional to the size of its body and completely bald. It had two very large round staring eyes. At first the creature appeared to have been bend down looking for something and it stood up upon seeing the children, which did not notice any arms on the creature. It wore a one-piece tight-fitting red coverall.

One of the boys screamed in surprise, this apparently caused the diminutive being to sprint away towards the woods, at that same moment a second similar creature that had been hidden from view joined the first one and both disappeared into the brush. The children also ran from the area terrified. Around the same date but late at night, a bus full of passengers reportedly saw an extremely bright disc shaped craft hovering above the roadway.

DEEP IN THE RAINFOREST

El Yunque, Puerto Rico - late February 1991 - 7:30 pm

Freddie, his wife and their young child were taking a drive around the rainforest area on Route 191. After cruising the area the road took a turn and the pair inadvertently took a detour deep into the forest. After a while they came up to a camouflaged gate deeper into the forest and after inspecting it they decided to drive through it. As they drove on the path in the woods they noticed that it was well lit by blue light bulbs on each side of the road. They drove through some hills for about 2 miles when the road abruptly ended. At it's end there was a large metal gate and a building on the other side of it. At that moment two six-foot tall man-like figures appeared and ordered the pair to stop and asked who they were. The men wore tight-fitting black one-piece suits, resembling diver's outfits, a wide black belt, black gloves, and large black boots with gold-colored metallic straps. They also wore large dark oval shaped helmets with dark visors. Their faces were not visible.

In eerie metallic-electronic sounding voices the strangers ordered the witnesses to step out of the car. The child remained sleeping in the back seat. One of the men took a long thin metallic tube with a mirror like tip and examined the vehicle. The figures asked the witnesses how they got there and then looked at the sleeping child inside. They then held a short conversation in a grave guttural language resembling German. One of the "men" then left the area and a blue pickup truck now arrived at the scene. Two men wearing blue coveralls were in the vehicle and spoke in Spanish to the witnesses, again asking them how they got there. The men then looked at the child and commented something in a low tone of voice to the strange figure in black that remained on the scene.

At that moment Freddie noticed a glint of light coming from what appeared to be a rectangular shaped hollowed out area in the nearby wooded slope of a hill. There appeared to be several huge glass like doors and inside there was a disc shaped object, that was encircled in rectangular shaped windows and was 30 ft in diameter, it appeared metallic & aluminum in color. Thinking that he was seeing something he was not supposed to see, he quickly averted his gaze. The men did not appear to notice that Freddie had seen anything. The men in the blue pickup then ordered the couple and their child to follow them out of the area in their vehicle. They were quickly escorted out onto the main road.

"COME WITH US"

Kiev, Ukraine - 1998 - night

Alla, a local woman, was in her bed submerged in dark thoughts, her husband and her three children were alcoholics. She saw no future and had serious thoughts of committing suicide. Suddenly someone knocked on her front door. She could only say, "Who is there? The time is late". But she did not have time to react as two strange entities suddenly appeared inside the room. The figures were generally humanoid in appearance with very black claw-like hands with long nails.

The entities knew exactly what their purpose was...then said politely, but firmly, "Don't do what you are planning, it is better that you come with us." Where? For what? And who are you, Alla replied. Her guests explained that they lived in a planet with "shape shifting beings" that can change their shape and density at will "It is difficult for those beings to perform physical tasks, that's why at times they ask humans for help". Their species also lacked females of their kind, and were having trouble in continuing their species. It was difficult for their women to give birth and that's why they invited terrestrial females to their planet. At this point, Alla half got up, intending to put her shoes on, but the strangers stopped her, saying, "No footwear is needed."

Her next memory was in appearing in a large room on board a large spacecraft. She saw three compartments on board and in one she noticed about 20 human males of different ages, the second compartment was empty, and in the third room she saw two elderly adult women that were talking to each other. In apparent bewilderment one of them was saying to the other, "I can't understand, whether I am still in this world, or already dead and in heaven?" Surprised, Alla wondered why the aliens needed those elderly women. At this moment the door opened and the aliens appeared, accompanied by a younger human woman. "Hello" she said to everyone. One of the "captive" men then said, "Here is one more prisoner". Moments later the young woman explained to Alla that she had met the strange entities as she left a dance hall, at which time they proposed sex to her. After getting over her shock, she agreed, since her life was full of marital and family problems anyway. The aliens then performed medical checks on both women and also performed some type of "IQ" test, that including remembering chemical formulas. The aliens were evidently testing their mental capabilities. The aliens spoke with the captives in the Russian and Ukrainian languages, but communicated among themselves in a strange "sing-song" language.

Apparently Alla did not pass any of the tests given to her by the aliens, so she was apparently returned back to her home...the other female taken from outside the dance hall remained with the aliens. While speaking with the other earth woman on board the spacecraft, Alla noticed five small globe-shaped spheres, resembling ball lighting and seemingly behaving like intelligent beings. They positioned themselves in a row. The alien commander then proceeded to tell them something, which Alla understood as, "My dear, you returned! Well go to your place." Alla then saw six small containers on the control panel resembling ordinary wine glasses; the spheres obeyed and placed themselves inside those containers, changing into the shape of a mushroom.

LATE NIGHT VISIT

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada - January 1999 - late night

Eva Trent had fallen asleep...when she awoke to a buzzing sound. Opening her eyes she was horrified to find two strange creatures standing on either side of her bed. The entity to her right was about 7-8-feet tall, weighed about 300 pounds, had apparently no clothing and seemed to have either crocodile or snake type skin. The creature to her left was identical in appearance but smaller in height and weight. They seemed to be communicating in a chirping manner. Each of the entities eyes glowed. Eva quickly discovered that she was unable to move.

As she stared at the two creatures she found that either one or both were giving her instructions telepathically. The nature of this was seemingly for her to create mentally visual scenes of various kinds and then "they" proceeded to distort that particular pleasant scene in a perverse manner. Apparently the creatures were intent not only to observe her emotional reaction, but also possibly to feed off the energy that was produced. After awhile Eva began to mentally resist the mind manipulation and began to pray earnestly. A short time later she fell back to sleep. The next morning the witness found 5 of her music tapes grossly distorted as if extreme heat had been applied. However no evidence of fire or odor was present.

Mummified Head is Skull of Henri IV, Say Historians

telegraph - A gash above the lip, a beauty spot and a pierced ear were among key features that helped identify the well-preserved head as that of the "Gallant Green" king, stabbed to death by a Catholic fundamentalist in 1610.

Jean-Pierre Babelon, France's leading Henri IV scholar told The Daily Telegraph he and the other experts were "99 per cent sure" of their findings.

He will be alongside the 19-man team of international experts when it details its historic discovery in Paris' Grand Palais after two years of painstaking research.

The experts, led by the renowned pathologist Philippe Charlier, used a "whole range of methods" to cross check their discovery.

These included matching the head's precise measurements with that of Henri IV's death masks, dating the skull and conducting "deep research" into the embalming techniques used at the time.

Mr Babelon said that while the king's face still sported "a few hairs from his beard", they were too damaged to provide conclusive DNA proof linking him to his descendants.

The "killer evidence", he said, came from still-visible telltale facial details, notably a knife gash above the upper lip inflicted in a well-documented assassination attempt on the king – who converted to Catholicism to end the war of religions, declaring "Paris is worth a Mass".

How the head ended up in expert hands remains a partial mystery.

After his death on May 14, 1610, Henri IV was buried alongside France's other kings in the Basilica of Saint Denis, outside Paris. French revolutionaries dug up his body in 1793, along with his fellow monarchs but a mystery admirer of "good king Henri" managed to make off with his head.

Historians lost sight of it in the 1800s, but it resurfaced in 1919, when Joseph-Emile Bourdais, an antiques dealer bought it for three francs at Drouot's auction house.

Mr Bourdais, also a photographer, kept the head in a glass case in his gallery in Montmartre, charging visitors a small fee to peek at it.

"He was convinced it belonged to Henri IV and became a man possessed, gathering a huge number of photos and engravings to prove the likeness," said Mr Babelon. When the Louvre museum declined to accept the head as a gift, it was sold to a private collector who kept it for the past 60 years.

Mr Babelon tracked down the elderly owner, who wishes to remain anonymous.

The research was led by Mr Charlier, already famous in France for proving that remains said to belong to Joan of Arc in the chateau de Chinon were fakes, and that Agnès Sorel, Charles VII's favourite mistress, died of mercury poisoning.

Worker Killed By Falling Refrigerator

jsonline - A 33-year-old man who was part of a crew renovating an apartment on Milwaukee's west side was killed Tuesday when he was struck by a refrigerator his co-workers threw from the building, a Milwaukee police spokeswoman said.

Initial reports indicated the refrigerator fell from a fourth-floor porch to the ground, where the man was struck.

The incident occurred about 9:40 a.m. at 805-11 N. 22nd St., police spokeswoman Anne E. Schwartz said. The workers who threw the refrigerator said they yelled down to the ground but didn't hear a response, so they thought the area was clear, she said.

The victim apparently stepped into the path of the refrigerator as it fell, Schwartz said. No one is in custody.

"It appears right now just to be a tragic accident," Schwartz said.

Milwaukee police completed their investigation of the incident, which is under investigation by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Schwartz said.

The victim died at the scene. His name has not been released. He worked for Wiegand Enterprises, which manages the building, according to an e-mail from the company's president, Rick Wiegand.

The victim "has been a dedicated and valued member of the Wiegand Enterprises team for many years," Wiegand said in his e-mail. "As a family man with a warm heart and zest for life, we are all heartbroken with his loss."

The refrigerator fell into a narrow gangway between the four-story brick building and a chain-link fence. Police tape blocked off the gangway Tuesday afternoon. A white, full-size refrigerator with a bent door was standing upright in the gangway.

Rare Photo of Flying Squid

metro - The Flying Squid are an incredible sight rarely caught on camera but these shots show one of the most bizarre sights in the natural world.

They swim in shoals and leap from the surface of the water and are often mistaken for the more common flying fish.

The squid actually fly looking backwards, with their tentacles dangling behind them and fins acting like wings, keeping them balanced in the air.

The 60-year-old retired deputy head teacher from Boreham, Essex, took the shots in the waters south of Japan.

Graham said: 'These squid are often mistaken for flying fish and at first that's what I thought these were.

'There was a group of about 20 flying squid and they sensed danger from the bow wave of the boat and their defence mechanism is to leap out of the water.'

Naked Ghost Hunter in Mississippi Cemetery

picayuneitem - A man photographed naked in a Mississippi cemetery says he didn't mean anything crazy by it, he was trying to capture pictures of spirits, or do orb photography. The man, 47 year-old Robert T. Hurst, of 208 Mitchell St., said he was in the cemetery conducting his year-long hobby, orb photography, which is capturing circles of light at night, some of which appear to be faces. As for why he was naked the night he was caught by a game camera set up by cemetery staff, he said skin can be the best canvas for such photography.

Pearl River County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Shane Tucker said the department received a great deal of community response to its request for aid in identifying a man who was photographed naked and setting up his own camera on a tripod by a game camera in the cemetery. The community information provided Investigators Christa Groom and Shane Edgar with several leads, but none of those tips led to the man for whom they were looking. Instead, it was information from a Picayune Police officer that put the investigators at the suspect's front door, Tucker said. The officer told the investigators that he remembered pulling a man over on a routine traffic stop recently that resembled the man in the picture.

Using that information, the investigators identified Hurst and made several attempts to contact him, but the efforts to make contact were unsuccessful, Tucker said. "It was obvious he was avoiding us." Tucker said. On Friday, Capt. Kelvin Stanford finally made contact with Hurst who turned himself in and was booked for indecent exposure, Tucker said. "This is one of the craziest things that I've ever seen," Stanford said, who has 15 years of law enforcement experience. On Friday, after Hurst was taken into custody, he sat down with a reporter to share his side of the story.

He said for the past year he's been taking photographs of orbs, which is done at night. Orb photography can capture images of circles of light, that at times look like faces, especially on the skin, Hurst said. "I've got some great pictures, it's really fascinating," Hurst said. Initially he intended to only take off his shirt, but then took off the rest of his clothes, which he said was stupid. "I didn't mean to expose myself to anybody and it was stupid," Hurst said. "You never know who's watching," Stanford said.

Kosovo PM is Head of Human Organ Ring

guardian - Kosovo's prime minister is the head of a "mafia-like" Albanian group responsible for smuggling weapons, drugs and human organs through eastern Europe, according to a Council of Europe inquiry report on organised crime.

Hashim Thaçi is identified as the boss of a network that began operating criminal rackets in the runup to the 1998-99 Kosovo war, and has held powerful sway over the country's government since.

The report of the two-year inquiry, which cites FBI and other intelligence sources, has been obtained by the Guardian. It names Thaçi as having over the last decade exerted "violent control" over the heroin trade. Figures from Thaçi's inner circle are also accused of taking captives across the border into Albania after the war, where a number of Serbs are said to have been murdered for their kidneys, which were sold on the black market.

Legal proceedings began in a Pristina district court today into a case of alleged organ trafficking discovered by police in 2008. That case – in which organs are said to have been taken from impoverished victims at a clinic known as Medicus – is said by the report to be linked to Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) organ harvesting in 2000. It comes at a crucial period for Kosovo, which on Sunday held its first elections since declaring independence from Serbia in 2008. Thaçi claimed victory in the election and has been seeking to form a coalition with opposition parties.

Dick Marty, the human rights investigator behind the inquiry, will present his report to European diplomats from all 47 member states at a meeting in Paris on Thursday. His report suggests Thaçi's links with organised crime date back more than a decade, when those loyal to his Drenica group came to dominate the KLA, and seized control of "most of the illicit criminal enterprises" in which Kosovans were involved south of the border, in Albania.

During the Kosovo conflict Slobodan Miloševic's troops responded to attacks by the KLA by orchestrating a horrific campaign against ethnic Albanians in the territory. As many as 10,000 are estimated to have died at the hands of Serbian troops.

While deploring Serb atrocities, Marty said the international community chose to ignore suspected war crimes by the KLA, "placing a premium instead on achieving some degree of short-term stability". He concludes that during the Kosovo war and for almost a year after, Thaçi and four other members of the Drenica group named in the report carried out "assassinations, detentions, beatings and interrogations". This same hardline KLA faction has held considerable power in Kosovo's government over the last decade, with the support of western powers keen to ensure stability in the fledgling state.

The report paints a picture in which ex-KLA commanders have played a crucial role in the region's criminal activity. It says: "In confidential reports spanning more than a decade, agencies dedicated to combating drug smuggling in at least five countries have named Hashim Thaçi and other members of his Drenica group as having exerted violent control over the trade in heroin and other narcotics."

Marty says: "Thaçi and these other Drenica group members are consistently named as 'key players' in intelligence reports on Kosovo's mafia-like structures of organised crime. I have examined these diverse, voluminous reports with consternation and a sense of moral outrage."

His inquiry was commissioned after the former chief prosecutor for war crimes at the Hague, Carla Del Ponte, said she had been prevented from investigating senior KLA officials. Her most shocking claim, which she said required further investigation, was that the KLA smuggled captive Serbs across the border into Albania, where their organs were harvested.

The report, which states that it is not a criminal investigation and unable to pronounce judgments of guilt or innocence, gives some credence to Del Ponte's claims.

It finds the KLA did hold mostly Serb captives in a secret network of six detention facilities in northern Albania, and that Thaçi's Drenica group "bear the greatest responsibility" for prisons and the fate of those held in them.

They include a "handful" of prisoners said to have been transferred to a makeshift prison just north of Tirana, where they were killed for their kidneys.

The report states: "As and when the transplant surgeons were confirmed to be in position and ready to operate, the captives were brought out of the 'safe house' individually, summarily executed by a KLA gunman, and their corpses transported swiftly to the operating clinic.''

The same Kosovan and foreign individuals involved in the macabre killings are linked to the Medicus case, the report finds.

Marty is critical of the western powers which have provided a supervisory role in Kosovo's emergence as a state, for failing to hold senior figures, including Thaçi, to account. His report criticises "faltering political will on the part of the international community to effectively prosecute the former leaders of the KLA".

It concludes: "The signs of collusion between the criminal class and the highest political and institutional office holders are too numerous and too serious to be ignored.

"It is a fundamental right of Kosovo's citizens to know the truth, the whole truth, and also an indispensable condition for reconciliation between the communities and the country's prosperous future."

If as expected the report is formally adopted by the committee this week, the findings will go before the parliamentary assembly next year.

The Kosovo government tonight dismissed the allegations, claiming they were the produce of "despicable and bizarre actions by people with no moral credibility".

"Today, the Guardian published an article that referred to a report from a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Dick Marty, which follows up on past reports published over the last 12 years aiming at maligning the war record of the Kosovo Liberation Army and its leaders," it said in a statement.

"The allegations have been investigated several times by local and international judiciary, and in each case, it was concluded that such statements have were not based on facts and were construed to damage the image of Kosovo and the war of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

"It is clear that someone wants to place obstacles in the way of prime minister, Hashim Thaçi, after the general election, in which the people of Kosovo placed their clear and significant trust in him to deliver the development programme and governance of our country.

"Such despicable and bizarre actions by people with no moral credibility, serve the ends of only those specific circles that do not wish well to Kosovo and its people."

Human Foot Mystery Continues On Northwest Pacific Coast

dailymail - Authorities in the U.S have been left baffled after a small human foot washed ashore in Washington state, the second to have appeared in the area in four months.

The remains were still encased in a size six 'OzArk Trail' hiking boot when it was found at the Tideflats in Tacoma about a week ago.

Police believe the right foot is that of a juvenile or small adult and floated in from either the Puyallup River or Puget Sound.

'Our best guess someone in their mid-to-late teens,' Tacoma Police spokesman Mark Fulghum said, adding that the shoe was sold in Wal-Mart Stores between 2004 and 2005.

In late August, a right foot believed to be that of a woman or child washed up on a beach in Whidbey Island, about 70 miles north of Tacoma.

Fulghum said police were as yet unsure if the cases are linked, or if they have any connection to cases in British Columbia, where seven feet - all inside running shoes - have washed ashore since 2006. Two were later discovered to be a match.

Canada Coroner Matches Pair of Mysterious 'Washed Up' Feet

AP - A coroner has matched a pair of dismembered female feet that mysteriously washed up on the shores of British Columbia.

The British Columbia coroner said Friday it had matched a female right foot discovered on Canada's West coast in November with a left foot discovered in May. Both were encased in New Balance running shoes.

They were among five feet that have mysteriously floated ashore along the Strait of Georgia between Vancouver Island and the British Columbia mainland since August 2007.

A sixth foot was found on Washington State's Olympic Peninsula about 30 miles west of Port Angeles in August. The peninsula is separated from B.C.'s Vancouver Island by the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

All six feet were found in athletic shoes.

"In all cases, these remains appear to have naturally separated from the body," said the B.C. Coroners Service.

DNA testing linked one of the Canadian feet to a depressed man who disappeared in 2007. Investigators have also concluded that two of the five feet belonged to one man who has not yet been identified.

Experts say that when a human body is submerged in the ocean, the arms, legs, hands, feet and head usually come off the body. The Coroners Service said it is difficult to determine how long remains have been in the water.

The Coroners Service uses physical characteristics and DNA analysis of the feet to establish a profile. Those profiles are maintained in a provincial database for future comparisons.

Police have said they are reviewing almost 300 missing persons files to try to match up the feet.

Ninth human foot found washed up on West Coast

timescolonist - A tourist strolling on a beach in Washington state discovered a human foot Friday, the ninth to wash up on the West Coast in the last three years.

The detached right foot — likely belonging to a woman or child, based on the size — washed up on Whidbey Island Friday just before 11:30 a.m., according to Det. Ed Wallace of the Island County Sheriff's office.

The island is located in Puget Sound, 40 kilometres north of Seattle.

The tourist called police, who secured the scene and scoured the beach for other human remains, Wallace said.

None were found, so the bare foot was sent to the Island County Coroner's office for DNA testing and forensic examination early next week.

Based on the level of decomposition, police are estimating the foot has been in the water for less than two months, Wallace said.

"At this point, it appears there's no trauma to it," Wallace said.

Because of the island's position in the Strait of Georgia, it's not unusual for bodies, torsos, legs and arms to wash ashore, he said.

"This is the first single foot that's shown up."

There was no skin left on the foot, so police can't do a race identification, he said.

Wallace said there are no missing people in his jurisdiction that match the remains, so his office will contact surrounding police departments, including the RCMP.

RCMP spokeswoman Cpl. Annie Linteau said E Division major crime investigators will contact U.S. officials on Monday.

"Obviously it's something we've gained a fair amount of expertise in .... and if we can render assistance to them we will."

She said investigators will compare DNA from the latest foot to forensic samples from people reported missing across the province.

The foot is the ninth to wash up since 2007.

• The first foot was found on Aug. 20, 2007, on Jedediah Island, northeast of Nanaimo. The right, male foot was found in a Campus shoe, size 12, available for sale primarily in India. It was subsequently linked to a depressed man who went missing in early 2007.

• The next one turned up on Gabriola Island six days later on Aug. 26, 2007. It was a right, male foot in a size 12 Reebok shoe. The brand was first produced in 2004 and is no longer for sale.

• The third foot, right and belonging to a male, was found on Feb. 8, 2008, on Valdes Island. It was in a blue and white Nike, size 11. The model was made between February and June 2003.

• The fourth foot was found on May 22, 2008, on Kirkland Island at the mouth of the Fraser River. This time, it was a right female foot in a size 7 New Balance shoe. The model was made beginning in June 1999.

• The fifth foot was found on Westham Island at the mouth of the Fraser River on June 16, 2008. It was a left, male foot and DNA testing has matched it with the foot found on Valdes, but the man's identity is unknown.

• The sixth foot was found Aug. 1, 2008, near Pysht, west of Port Angeles, Wash. A right, male foot, it was found in a size 11 or 12 men's low-rise, dark hiking-type athletic shoe, made by the Everest Shoe Co.

• The seventh foot was found Nov. 11, 2008, on a Fraser River beach in Richmond. A left, female foot, it was matched through DNA testing with the foot found on Kirkland Island, and the woman was identified.

• Then on Oct. 29, 2009, a right foot was found inside a white size 8 1/2 Nike running shoe on a beach in Richmond

In the previous cases, foul play was not suspected and police said the feet likely became detached through decomposition.

There have also been hoaxes.

On June 18, 2008, what was thought to be a foot washed up near Campbell River. It was later discovered that someone had placed the bones of an animal's foot in a sock and packed it inside a sneaker with seaweed.

Then in September of that year, someone placed a plastic foot in a runner on an East Vancouver beach.
