Charles Hickson and the Pascagoula River Abduction Posted: 14 Sep 2011 11:21 AM PDT Charles Hickson, one of two men who said they were abducted by aliens, dead at 80 Charles E. Hickson Sr., one of two men who reported they were abducted from the banks of the Pascagoula River by aliens in 1973, has died at the age of 80. Hickson died Friday in Ocean Springs, officials with O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gautier said Tuesday. Hickson spent nearly 40 years reliving the reported encounter. He also co-wrote a book, "UFO Contact at Pascagoula." On Oct. 11, 1973, Hickson and Calvin Parker were fishing on the Pascagoula River. What seemed to be the beginning of a peaceful night turned to chaos when the pair said they suddenly found themselves in a close encounter with an alien craft and its occupants. Hickson, then 42, and Parker, then 19, did not want their account publicized, but a reported leak to the newspaper made publicity inevitable. After reporting their account to the sheriff's office, Hickson and Parker both passed lie detector tests and were even questioned under hypnosis. Investigators are on record saying the pair's story never wavered. "I am not trying to force anybody to believe anything. I just simply tell them what happened to Calvin and me, and they make up their own minds if they want to believe it or not," Hickson said in a 2008 interview with WLOX-TV. Parker, who was last reported living in Louisiana, has declined to discuss the matter. According to Hickson's account, two of the creatures from the ship seized him and another grabbed Parker, who fainted. He said the aliens held them for about 20-30 minutes. "Something came out of that wall, like a big eye. It came up in front of me, it went under me, and it came back up my back side. The next time I saw it, it came over my head in front of me. They turned me around and carried me right back out where they pick me up." Then, Hickson said, within the blink of an eye, it was all over. He said the UFO was gone, and the men were left wondering what had happened. A native of Jones County, Hickson served in the Army during the Korean War. He is survived by two sons, three daughters, a brother and a sister; and 10 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren. A graveside service will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at McGill Cemetery in Sandersville. - picayuneitem ----- The Pascagoula, Mississippi Alien Abductions - October, 1973 On the night of October 10, 1973, fifteen different people witnessed a UFO over a housing project in St. Tammany Parish, New Orleans, Louisiana. Two of the witnesses were policeman. This sighting was only the beginning of what was to occur the next night on the nearby Pascagoula River. Two fishermen, nineteen-year-old Calvin Parker, and forty-two-year-old Charles Hickson were about to have an experience that would forever change their lives. Parker and Hickson were good friends, and often fished together. They were both living in the town of Gautier, Mississippi. On one particular night, they were fishing the waters of the Pascagoula River, when suddenly they heard a strange buzzing sound. The two men immediately turned to see what the source of the strange noise was. They were shocked to see an egg-shaped object with bluish front lighting. The object was only a few feet above the water, and about ten yards from the two frightened fishermen. While they sat stunned, a door opened in the UFO and three beings of unknown origin began to float toward the two. The beings did have legs, but did not use them. They literally floated across the water toward Hickson and Parker. The two fishermen would later attempt to describe what the beings looked like, saying "...about five feet tall, had bullet-shaped heads without necks, slits for mouths, and where their noses or ears would be, they had thin, conical objects sticking out, like carrots from a snowman's head." Hickson sat frozen on the river bank. Suddenly, two of the odd-looking beings grabbed him, while the third being snatched Parker, who immediately fainted from fear. The beings supported Hickson by literally holding up his body. As they did, he felt numbness over his entire body. By some power he could not see, he floated into the bowels of the object to a brightly-lit room. The room had no gravity. He floated while a strange eye-like device moved over his entire body as if it was scanning him. After the eye-like device was finished with Hickson, he was left floating in the room alone. The beings had probably left to examine Parker. Approximately 20 minutes after the ordeal had begun, it was over. Hickson was now floated back out of the craft. Back on the river bank, he could see Parker, who was crying and praying on the ground. Shortly, the strange flying object rose straight into the night sky, and flew away. After collecting their senses and strength, they began to talk about what action they should take. At first they were afraid to report their experience, but they felt obligated to tell someone. What if these beings were taking other people in the area? Fighting fears of public ridicule, they called Kessler Air Force Base in Biloxi. They were instructed to report their incident to the local sheriff's department. Sheriff Fred Diamond thought their story was a hoax or trick. Trying to get to the bottom of their account, the two fishermen were placed in a room wired for sound. It was thought that they would discuss the joke between themselves, and their story would be found out. Instead, they continued to talk about the incident and seemed terribly distressed. Soon law enforcement personnel knew that something had certainly frightened Hickson and Parker, and that this was no joke. Very quickly, details of the alleged abduction began to leak out to the public. First, the account of the incident was published in local newspapers, soon followed by the wire services. In a matter of a couple of days, the Pascagoula, Mississippi, abduction was a big news item over the entire United States. Aerial Phenomena Research Organization (APRO) sent University of California professor James Harder to investigate the story. Dr. J. Allen Hynek, who represented the U.S. Air Force also would research the case. Harder and Hynek did a lot of the investigative work together. The two well-known researchers first interviewed the two fishermen together. Harder tried to do regressive hypnosis on Hickson, but the abductee was so frightened, that the hypnosis was stopped. To get things off on solid ground, both of the witnesses took polygraph tests, and both passed without a problem. Harder and Hynek both believed that the two tormented men were telling the truth. Esteemed UFO researcher J. Allen Hynek would proclaim that "... there was definitely something here that was not terrestrial." Even after thirty-plus years, both Calvin Parker and Charles Hickson still testify to the same story, and have never wavered in their account of what happened that October night on the Pascagoula River. __________________________ THE 'SECRET TAPE' Sheriff Fred Diamond interviewed the men, who related their story. After repeated questioning, Diamond left the two men alone in a room that was, unknown to Hickson or Parker, rigged with a hidden microphone. Sheriff Diamond assumed that if they were lying, that fact would become immediately apparent when the two spoke privately. Instead, they continued to talk about the incident and seemed terribly distressed. This so-called "secret tape" was held on file at the Jackson County Sheriff's department, and has since earned wider circulation amongst UFO researchers and enthusiasts. Parker, who seemed particularly shaken, spoke repeatedly of his wish to see a doctor. A partial transcript of their interrogation and of the "secret tape" is available; immediately below is part of the conversation on the "secret tape", as transcribed by NICAP: CALVIN: I got to get home and get to bed or get some nerve pills or see the doctor or something. I can't stand it. I'm about to go half crazy. CHARLIE: I tell you, when we through, I'll get you something to settle you down so you can get some damn sleep. CALVIN: I can't sleep yet like it is. I'm just damn near crazy. CHARLIE: Well, Calvin, when they brought you out-when they brought me out of that thing, goddamn it I like to never in hell got you straightened out. His voice rising, Calvin said, "My damn arms, my arms, I remember they just froze up and I couldn't move. Just like I stepped on a damn rattlesnake." [sic] "They didn't do me that way", sighed Charlie. Now both men were talking as if to themselves. CALVIN: I passed out. I expect I never passed out in my whole life. CHARLIE: I've never seen nothin' like that before in my life. You can't make people believe- CALVIN: I don't want to keep sittin' here. I want to see a doctor- CHARLIE: They better wake up and start believin'... they better start believin'. CALVIN: You see how that damn door come right up? CHARLIE: I don't know how it opened, son. I don't know. CALVIN: It just laid up and just like that those son' bitches-just like that they come out. CHARLIE: I know. You can't believe it. You can't make people believe it- CALVIN: I paralyzed right then. I couldn't move- CHARLIE: They won't believe it. They gonna believe it one of these days. Might be too late. I knew all along they was people from other worlds up there. I knew all along. I never thought it would happen to me. CALVIN: You know yourself I don't drink CHARLIE: I know that, son. When I get to the house I'm gonna get me another drink, make me sleep. Look, what we sittin' around for. I gotta go tell Blanche... what we waitin' for? CALVIN (panicky): I gotta go to the house. I'm gettin' sick. I gotta get out of here. Then Charlie got up and left the room, and Calvin was alone. CALVIN: It's hard to believe . . . Oh God, it's awful... I know there's a God up there... Seeing that the police were skeptical of their story, Hickson and Parker insisted that they take lie detector tests to prove their honesty. "I was terribly frightened," Hickson told WLOX News. Late one October night in 1973, Charles Hickson decided to go fishing on the Pascagoula River with his buddy, 19-year-old Calvin Parker. But something happened that night that would change their lives forever. "It look to me like air, or steam, or something escaping from a pipe," Hickson said. A piercing sound made Hickson and Parker stop what they were doing. That's when Hickson says he spotted a large UFO hovering behind them. "It was some kind of craft, it was probably 30 or 40 feet. There were three things, they weren't human beings. I know now they were robots. " The sight of the aliens is burned into Hickson's memory. "They appeared to me that they had something like elephant skin, it was very wrinkled. These things came to us and took a hold of me, and one took a hold of Calvin. We went into that beam of light and they carried me aboard that craft." He says the aliens held them for about 30 minutes. "Something came out of that wall, like a big eye. It came up in front of me, it went under me, and it came back up my back side. The next time I saw it, it came over my head in front of me. They turn me around and carried me right back out where they pick me up." The Hickson says, within the blink of an eye, it was all over. The UFO was gone, and the men were left wondering what happened. "I thought it might be a threat to the country, some type of threat to the country. We talked it over again, and decided we would go the sheriff's department," Hickson said. After the mysterious abduction, Hickson and Parker both passed lie detector tests and were even questioned under hypnosis. Investigators are on record saying the pair's story never wavered. "I am not trying to force anybody to believe anything. I just simply tell them what happen to Calvin and me, and they make up their own minds if they want to believe it or not." Now, 35 years later, Hickson says he still can't get the ordeal out of his mind. "They're just simply unidentified flying objects that come from other worlds out there, and those worlds are, [pause] I have no idea. " Hickson and Parker's alleged abduction played a crucial role in the creation of the National UFO Reporting Center in Seattle. The center is a centralized place for people to call and report strange and mysterious things they see. Just the Facts? New Nessie Photos, Eel Removed From Man's Bladder and Pangbourne Panther Returns Posted: 14 Sep 2011 11:05 AM PDT New Nessie Sighting It's been said before and it's being said again .. Nessie is alive under the waves of Loch Ness. Once more the notoriously shy Loch Ness monster has been reportedly sighted in Scotland's deepest loch. This time close to a commercial fish farm. Jon Rowe, from nearby Lewiston in Drumnadrochit, took the eerie snaps moments before the mysterious shape slipped beneath the water. Could this be Nessie? Jon Rowe says his image shows a pair of humps which soon disappeared under the waves And the stunned fish farmer is convinced that the shapes he saw in the morning light are Nessie. He said: 'It was a very strange morning. It was misty with a bit of rain and sunny at the same time. 'There was a rainbow so I got my camera out to take a photo and noticed this really large dark shape in the loch with two humps that were barely out of the water. 'My instant reaction was "That's Nessie".' Loch Ness: The two humps are clearly visible bottom centre in Jon Rowe's photo, as is the rainbow he originally set out to capture Mr Rowe has dismissed claims that the shapes he saw in the water were not the legendary beast of the deep said to stalk the atmospheric Highland loch. He added: 'I have no doubt, I work on the loch everyday and I've never seen anything like it. 'Almost as soon as I took the shot the shape disappeared under the water and out of sight. The 31-year-old told how he had not believed that a monster swam the depths of Loch Ness until he captured Nessie on film. 'It can't have been a buoy or a mooring as it's in the wrong place and the ropes would be visible in the water. 'A few people have said it was birds diving under the water - but I didn't see any birds fly by. It can't have been birds - the whole thing went down into the loch. 'It was quite spooky but I think it's really interesting.' The legend of the Loch Ness Monster began in 1933 when its 'existence' was first brought to the world's attention by George Spicer and his wife. They said they saw an unusual animal cross the road in front of them. Countless subsequent searches of the loch over the years using sonar and other high tech approaches have failed to prove that the monster exists and lives in the loch. The most frequent speculation surrounding the mythical creature states that it could be from a line of long-surviving plesiosaurs, though this has never been proved. As a result the Loch Ness Monster remains a modern-day myth and sightings are often dismissed by the scientific community as wishful thinking. - dailymail ********** Highways to High Strangeness Another 'must-read' article by Scott Corrales - Inexplicata - We've all driven in the dark of night. On our way to college at the start of a school year, off to see relatives, or simply to catch the earliest flight out of a distant airport. Our companions are the radio and a cup of coffee – or the beverage of choice – as we hold on to the wheel and stare through glass at the expanse of road ahead. We do so with certain information in the back of our minds: that there will be exits off the expressway where food or fuel can be secured, rest areas at which we can close our eyes for a few minutes, and the security of calling a towing service if our vehicle should break down. There are parts of the world, however, where driving is truly an adventure. Highways stretch though the emptiness for hundreds of miles, bereft of services, with only the moon providing the least bit of illumination. Drivers in some of these countries are necessarily mechanics, as the possibility of assistance is slim at best. Even the legendary Pan-American Highway, while fully paved and marked, traverses some of the most unforgiving landscapes on earth, from terrifying mountain heights to vast silent deserts like the Salar de Atacama in northern Chile. Continue reading at Highways to High Strangeness ********** Venezuela's Chavez turns to shamans to fight cancer Shamans from tribes in Venezuela's Amazon jungle held a ceremony at the Miraflores presidential palace Saturday to help Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez recover from his cancer treatment. Chavez, who insists that he was "not sick but recovering" from cancer, greeted the shamans wearing a track suit in the colors of the Venezuelan national flag and wore a crown of feathers the visitors gave him. Members of the Yekuana, Jivi and Wayuu communities danced, sang and prayed as they invoked their ancestors to protect the Venezuelan leader. The ritual was aimed at protecting Chavez "against enemies and bad health," said Miguel Morales, a shaman from the Jivi community. It also serves "so that he is left in peace, politically," he said. "We came from far away, from the (southern) state of Amazonas, to bless him," Morales said. Chavez thanked the shamans for the crown of feathers. "I consider it sacred and will keep it for my whole life," Chavez told them. "The cancer was removed, and with the power of god and all the gods it has gone and will never return," said Chavez, 57. Chavez underwent surgery in Cuba in June to remove a tumor in his pelvic area. He has offered little information on his cancer, for which he underwent chemotherapy in Cuba in July and August. A third round of chemo was done in Caracas last week. Since the operation Chavez has limited his public appearances, lost weight and lost most of his hair from his cancer treatment. The leftist populist leader on Wednesday vowed to be fully recovered by December to compete in the 2012 presidential election, when he expects "knock-out" the opposition. ********** Eel removed from man's bladder Zhang Nan was bathing with live eels to cleanse his skin when one rogue serpent took a liking to his manhood. The eel treatment in question is a similar concept to the popular London spas that offer fish pedicures. Thinking that the eels would make him look ten years younger, Nan dived into the water and let them feast upon layers of dead skin. But after laying in the spa bath, Nan felt a sharp pain and realised a small eel was working its way up his urethra and into his bladder. 'I climbed into the bath and I could feel the eels nibbling my body. But then suddenly I felt a severe pain and realised a small eel had gone into the end of my penis,' the 56-year-old from Honghu, Hubei province said. 'I tried to hold it and take it out, but the eel was too slippery to be held and it disappeared up my penis.' Rushing himself to hospital, the man underwent a three-hour operation to remove the six-inch eel which was dead by the time doctors found it. Surgeon Jin Wang said that, because of the eel's slippery nature, it was able to make a smooth entry into the genitals of Nan. 'The diameter of the urethra in a man's penis is just a little narrower, but because eels are quite slippery, its body worked as a lubricant and so it got into the penis smoothly,' he said. Believe it or not, Nan's case follows a similar incident when a 14-year-old boy in India had to undergo emergency surgery. In a case study published by urologists Dr G Vezhaventhan and R Jeyaraman, they described how they removed a 2cm-long fish from the boy's bladder. The teenager said that while holding the fish he had gone to the toilet and, while urinating, the fish had 'slipped from his hand and entered his urethra'. - metro ********** 'Pangbourne Panther back on the prowl' A furry scourge of Reading's countryside might be back – if the legend of the Pangbourne Panther is to be believed. Young mum Natasha Wysockyj, 23, told getreading she was "freaked out" after she was convinced she was "stalked" by a black panther while out walking with her family in woodland close to Pangbourne. The Tadley woman was walking in the area on the evening of Monday, August 29, with her partner Richard Fiddler, 21, and their three-and-a-half-month old twins when they heard strange noises and felt as though they were being watched by something that was "big and black". Miss Wysockyj claims the creature stopped each time the family turned around to investigate where the noises were coming from. She said: "It definitely followed us all the way along the tree line. It was behind a wire mesh fence and part of the fence had been broken. "I didn't know what it was but we could hear it was quite heavy and every time we stopped to look back the noises stopped." Miss Wysockyj jumped over a fence to see if it would be safer to walk in a different part of the area and, as she did so, Mr Fiddler told her that the beast "bolted" towards her but he could not see what it was clearly. The worried family then left the area and returned to the safety of their car but they said they were followed until they reached their vehicle. Mr Fiddler said he thought the animal may have been a panther so Miss Wysockyj called her father who recalled Reading Post reports of a panther being spotted in the Pangbourne area in November 2007. At the time, Earley woman Patricia Lewis said she saw the creature on the prowl in a wooded valley just outside Pangbourne while Caversham Park couple Geoff and Sylvia Killgallon spotted the mighty moggy stalking the fields around their home. A similar creature was also seen in Shinfield and Ashampstead in December 2007 and before this a long, black cat-like creature dubbed the Beast of Berkshire was seen stalking through the countryside between Tilehurst and Pangbourne in 2005. Miss Wysockyj, who used to visit the area with her friends, added: "I was freaked out. I won't be going back there again, that's for sure." These have not been the first sightings of exotic creatures around the town. Feathered beauty Captain Peacock was spotted running around Reading in 2006, then a kangaroo was seen in West Reading before an alligator was snapped in the same area. A wallaby was seen near the Asda supermarket in Lower Earley in July 2006 and later a parrot was also seen flying around Tilehurst in 2007. - getreading | ||
Recordings Released - Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society Posted: 14 Sep 2011 10:16 AM PDT I received the following email from my 'Beyond the Edge' radio buddy Eric Altman, who is the director of the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society. The sound recording files Eric refers to are posted at PBS Sound Recording. I listened to the recordings last evening...amazing stuff!: For your review, opinion and enjoyment, I have attached several audio files that were recorded on an Olympus digital hand held recorder while on a Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society sponsored two day outing September 9 and 10th in the Forbes State Forest in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. Here is some background information as to why our team was there. A deputy State Constable and Security force supervisor claimed he had a sighting on this property at 3:30 am from a distance of approximately 50 yards away on September 8, 2011. The sighting took place after three weeks of almost unusual nightly sounds heard by several members of the security force that was guarding this construction site. The night shift of the security staff claimed they heard wood knocking, whooping calls, screams, growls and hoots almost on a nightly basis after dark. We interviewed them independently and their stories corroborated what the other officers stated. If you would be kind enough to take a listen to these recordings and offer me your thoughts of them. We can not and will not state these recordings are of a Bigfoot or Bigfoot creatures. We have not been able to identify the source of these recorded sounds as of yet. What we can validate is that the sounds came from various heavily forested areas surrounding the construction site between the hours of 1:00 am and 4:00 am on September 10, 2011 while our team investigated. The recordings were captured by PBS members Christopher and Connie Brinker on their handheld Olympus digital recorder while in their observation post on the far side of the construction property. I suggest you use headphones to listen to these recordings as some of the sounds are distant on the recording and may not be able to be heard with ambient background noise. 1.) Recording at 0145 am Electronic call followed by multiple knocks south on road These sounds were recorded after playing Ron Moorehead's Bigfoot Sounds Vol 2, which was edited to play only the whoops. After Connie states did you hear that knock? A series of knocks were captured and although speculated they came from members of the group, we confirmed no one in the group knocked. 2.) Recording at 0159 am 1 near call, 1 distant reply, Eric reply, 5 distant replies. These calls were recorded at 01:59 am. The recording starts off at 03 seconds with a very close, very human like yell. We can not rule out a person, responsible for it. Then at 25 seconds you will hear a distant yell, which was not one of us. It came from deep in the wooded hollow. I do a call at 41 seconds and immediately after I stop, you will hear an instant reply at 49 seconds. Someone asks if that is the recording (which we confirmed these calls were not the recordings). You hear another distant yell at 059 seconds, 1:32 and then at 1:45. it is possible the first scream that starts immediately was from a team member. My scream at 41 seconds is the only scream we can definitely account for. The others we can not. 3.) Recording at 0204 am - 3 high pitch screams At 204 am while walking over to the person call blasting the calls to find out if they had just call blasted the previous yells, three distant scream were heard coming from a wooded hillside a distance away. These are very faint but can be heard at 6 seconds, 24 seconds and 32 seconds. This may or may not be a coyote calling. Not sure. We have other whoop calls recorded but they are also very difficult to discern and I am working to clean those up and amplify those calls. I do not expect any positive identification with these sounds due to the distance and recording quality, but I thought I'd share them and ask for thoughts and opinions. Again, I can not and will not state these recordings came from a Bigfoot or Bigfoot creatures, however they are very interesting, but inconclusive and thought you may enjoy hearing them. Thanks for your time. Eric Altman
