THE DOG

Some time in the 1950's I was visiting with my friend's family in Toronto, Ont. Canada, where I grew up My friend's father who was a respected chemist/scientist told me a story that had happened to him recently. He had returned home one evening to find a strange looking dog on his veranda. The dog seemed to want to come in the house with him and he, feeling sorry for the dog in the cold of the late fall, took the dog in, fed it and put an old coat on the floor in the kitchen for a bed. In the morning he let the dog out and it trotted away.

Later that day he received word that his brother, who lived in New York City, had died suddenly. He made arrangements to leave immediately for New York. When he arrived there many hours later, he made his way to his late brother's home. He rang the doorbell and waited for his sister-in-law to let him in. When she opened the door he saw beside her the dog that had visited him the previous night.

Dr.M was very quiet after telling me this story. I don't think he shared it with his family and this is the first time I have related it and it happened about 65 years ago. E.Mader

NIGHT IN THE DESERT

Hi, back in 1980, a friend and I were in high school and spent a lot of time exploring the desert near Tucson, Arizona. One night in October (don't remember the date), I was spending the night at his house. He lived in a old ranch house that had a old barn/shed near a dry river bed where we used to sleep in so we could talk and wander around at night. This night was a little cold for October and it was clear with no moon.

Anyhow, it was around 1 AM and we were about a mile away from his house in the riverbed talking. We had a miner's lamp that was operated by a 12 volt battery and was worn on his head. It cast a half mile beam. Ahead of us was a tall (20 plus feet) Palo Verde tree which was very thickly covered with branches so we couldn't easily see the other side. Suddenly, the tree shook violently and we heard a loud snort like sound. Fearing a pack of Javalinas (wild pigs) or maybe a loose bull we froze. My friend shone his light on the tree about our eye height and we saw nothing. The tree shook again but higher up. He fixed the light on the tree about 15 feet off the ground. What we saw we will never forget, two big blue eyes set about 1 foot apart! Again the tree shook followed by the sound of 2 heavy feet running the other way. Needless to say, we ran the other way!

The next day we returned to search the area. We found large footprints going the other way. The strange thing is there were sightings of strange lights in the area skies for the next couple of weeks. This happened on the west side of town at the base of the Tucson Mountains.

BLUE LIGHT?

Dear Lon,

I am writing about an incident that happened several months ago. First, let me say that your site rocks. I live on an acreage 5 1/2 miles from the town of Hampton, Iowa. Late last summer there was an incident in the town that we heard over the police scanner about 9:30-10:00 p. m. People were calling in to the police department saying they were having trouble sleeping because there was a bright blue light just pouring through their windows.

After several of these calls, one police officer came on the scanner saying that he was a few miles on the edge of town and he could actually see what was a vivid blue ceiling type effect covering the whole town.

Within minutes, there were several calls coming in from the different officers and a few business owners saying that their electronic gadgets, ie: door locks, shop lights, etc. were all going crazy. The police, who have as part of there nightly rounds check all the doors on the main street businesses to make sure they are locked, were reporting that they were having to backtrack and redo their routine.

I couldn't see anything from where I live and after a small amount of time, nothing else was said. I imagined they might have switched channels or scrambled the channel. The next day when I went to town and asked a few people who I know to be fairly open minded like myself, if they had seen/heard anything about the blue light or the electric gadgets freaking out. Nobody seemed to know anything or to have heard anything.

I waited for our weekly paper to come out and checked the neighboring town papers for anything about it, but, nothing showed up. I just wanted to know if anyone else has written about this or if anyone has ever had anything like this happen in their area.

dailymail - There's something blowing on the breeze in West Street. And it's not pleasant.

Residents are keeping their windows and doors tightly closed, and gardens are no-go areas.

Some householders even need to don full-body protective clothing - complete with breathing masks - to venture outside.

It's all because the road is under siege from an invasion of caterpillars little more than an inch long.

But what the brown tail moth caterpillar lacks in size, it makes up for in its covering of hairs, which break off as barbs into the air.

The hairs can cause serious allergic reactions including rashes, severe breathing problems, headaches and even conjunctivitis.

An army of the caterpillars have hatched on land backing on to houses in this corner of Newport, on the Isle of Wight, leaving residents in despair.

Pauline and Robert Froment, who live close to the infected area, have to use protective clothing just to get outside to look after their chickens, and other pets.

'It really has been like a horror film,' said Mrs Froment, 47. 'They dangle down on webs and then drop on you from above.

'We have had to buy suits and masks so we can get to our chickens and have had to have our springer spaniel shaved to prevent caterpillars getting into his fur.'

Her 53-year-old disabled husband added: 'My main hobby is my garden but I am trapped indoors.

'I had an asthma attack that was so severe I thought I was having a stroke and had to go to hospital.'

The Froments live with their grown-up daughters, Kelly and Donna, and grand- daughter Reanna, two.

Three members of the family already use inhalers for asthma and since the first caterpillars emerged five weeks ago their health has worsened.

Mrs Froment said they had to put their heating on to dry their washing, rather than hang it outside where it would be covered in caterpillar hairs.

'We can't let Reanna out at all, she has been in tears,' she said.

Neighbour Tina Johnson has also been cooped up indoors.

She said: 'I have had an asthmatic reaction and am on six lots of steroids a day.

'Children in the street have had rashes and no one has been able to venture into their gardens and open their windows.'

Phillip Wright, who owns the main patch of land where the caterpillars live, said he had called in pest control experts after being alerted to the problem.

Steve Gardner, of Island Pest Control, is the man charged with the task of removing the caterpillars, although it is not a task he relishes.

Two years ago he ended up in casualty with a severe skin reaction after tackling an infestation.

He said: 'I can understand why some people have taken to wearing protective clothing. They look like any normal caterpillar, but they are really very unpleasant creatures.'

Anyone who comes into contact with the caterpillars is advised to wash in soapy water, and to seek medical advice if there is a severe reaction.

The caterpillars have long been causing problems on the southeast coast.

But in recent years, thanks to Britain's increasingly warm weather, they have begun moving north.

Last year they spread to Wiltshire, where they had never been seen before.

A Real Investigator of the Unexplained World of Ghosts and Spirits

Chris Holly's Paranormal World - During my years of writing about the unknown I have only had a handful of encounters with the world of ghosts. All of the events were by way of others who were dealing with ghostly problems. I managed to see things I did not understand but truly my only part was of a observer. Frankly for me that was enough!

I have looked for years to find someone I thought was a true professional in this area of the paranormal without too much success.

There seems to be a abundance of those who have been named Ghost Hunters but few who seem to really know what they are doing.

Of course this is only my opinion and should be taken with a grain of salt. I will tell you I think this is one subject where those looking in to it need to be well informed and careful.

I do not think it is a place for those looking for fun, a social club or fame without experience or education on how to and how not to do this.

I also found a great deal of the information out there on this subject to be redundant and many investigations empty or handled in a off handed dangerous method until I came across this man.

Richard Palmisano from The Searchers Group based out of Canada is in my opinion a top notch professional Investigator of the unknown world of ghost or spirit haunting.

Richard is a intelligent man who runs a first class operation along with his brother and group members. Richard and his group use both the newest technology as well as the older proven methods to research a case. Richard and his team are not crash and burn in their approach to an investigation and understand it takes time and lots of data collected over long hours and many days to figure out what is happening in the cases they investigate.

The Searcher Group impresses me as they do not take on cases of wind blowing through old houses and try to fabricate them in to a evil entity or looming ghost. They only investigate cases they feel have the bones of being true anomalies.

Along with long hours of surveillance with both video and audio equipment as well as personal time spent in a area of investigation Richard and his group research the history of the haunted area and bring in the talents of well tested Mediums.

The difference with this group and many others is the extend this group goes to in finding those who are truly gifted in medium or psychic abilities , proven and experienced in handling what they may find in their investigations of the unknown. Not only are they very picky on who they use on their cases Richard and his group use at least two trusted mediums. They always have the mediums come alone at different times, never together to test if they come up with the same findings.

This group takes time, energy and great care in handling their work and it shows in the outcome of their investigations.

Richard told me that he grew up in an old family home that was haunted and that is how his interest bloomed towards the world of the unknown.

Growing up Richard clearly remembers objects moving in the house that should not be moving as well as footsteps walking down the halls and stairs as well as voices talking where no one was to be found.

The house was a long time family owned property making it possible for Richard to return to it as an adult with his brother and The Searcher Group to do an investigation .

What they discovered was that the haunting was that of relatives that had long passed away who had lived in the house before them.

The spirits in the house were found to be his uncle , his cousin and some other man who was not a family member.

It seems Richard had a uncle who died at the young age of 38 in the living room of this family home years ago. Sadly he left behind a wife and young daughter.

Incredibly this uncles daughter also died at age 38 in the living room of this house years later.

The father and daughter seem to have stayed with the house and were busy going about their business which created a great deal of the haunting events.

Another man or spirit was also picked up in the house. This spirit was a nosey annoying energy however I do not think his identity was nailed down as well as his uncle and cousin.

Richard has wonderful theories on haunting activity. Richard thinks our souls or life energy has a free will after released from the human body.

He thinks it may be possible for us to make the choice to stay earthbound. It is also possible that we may be able to pick a special or happy time we experienced in our human form and go to that time and place remaining there living that experience for as long as our soul desires. The fact the living may also be in that space in the present time may have us bumping in to each other- but not at the same time of ongoing history.

Let us think of a wonderful time someone may have had during the 1940's at a lake house surrounded by family and friends. It may be possible we could return to that summer and that lake house as it was in the 1940's and live those summers again or forever as a soul.

The fact the same lake house may have been renovated three times since 1940 with new families living there today is not seen by the soul happily rooming through the building as it stood years ago.

The clash can create a cross over or confusion with the soul seeing flashes of us on their turf or we them which creates a ghostly experience for the present time and the people living in it.

Richard also thinks we have the choice to pass in to the light which he feels is a immediate trip to another life. Richard feels the light may be the canal of rebirth directly in to another life form.

I find Richard to be a thoughtful bright man who I plan to spend a great deal of time interviewing . I think we all need a intelligent approach and new thinking to finding answers to so many questions in the subjects of the paranormal.

Richard is one of those I feel who are the ground breakers and shakers on the road to answers and truth to that which is considered unknown.

I asked Richard if people's spirits maintain the same characteristics in personality as they did when they were living? He told me he thought they did. If they were difficult and fussy in life they were most likely the same in their soul energy.

Richard told me of a event when he along with his brother and The Searcher Group were investigating a haunting. He said the group sat down in the main living area of the house they were investigating to have a meeting on how they wanted to precede in this particular case.

Richard said they all sat around and discussed what they needed to without incident or noticing or hearing anything odd at all.

When the meeting ended the group all stood up to walk out of the room.

All of a sudden Richards brother stood up and went flying across the room flat down on his face.

The group a bit startled started to laugh at the brother thinking his fall was an act of extreme clumsiness . The brother however was angry and wanted to know who made him fall?

It seems when he stood up to walk his feet became tangled which sent him flying through the air. They looked down to find that during the meeting someone or something had tied the man's shoe laces together resulting in his flying acrobatics across the room.

The man walked in to the room with the group , they all sat together, no one got up and tied his shoes together and no one noticed it being done- however tied they were and flying across the room he went. A ghost with a funny bone seemed to fit the bill in this case.

I plan to write more about Richard and his group's findings. I also will be writing more about Richards theories and opinions of the shapes and physical forms ghosts are seen or manifest.

Richard was like a gust of clean air in a subject that has long needed a good airing out!
