Preamble: On July 13, 1959 in Blenheim, New Zealand, Mrs. Moreland saw a sharply- outlined saucer-shaped object with two extremely bright sources of green light on the underside. The object was approximately 20 to 30 feet wide and hovered at roof-top level, about 15 feet above the ground. Inside a transparent dome, she said, there were two men, "dressed in fairly close-fitting suits of shiny material." Incident: Mrs. Frederick Moreland, of Blenheim, New Zealand, a busy housewife with five children, was helping her husband tend their small nine-acre farm as well as working part-time as a nurse's aid at Lister Hospital, in Blenheim, at the time her sighting occurred. On July 13, 1959, at 5:50 a.m., it was dark with a low cloud cover when Mrs. Moreland went to the barn to do the morning milking. She noticed a green glow in the overcast and was half-way across the paddock when she saw two large green lights emerge from the clouds and descend rapidly toward the ground, in her direction. "I noticed that I was bathed in a green light and that all the paddock was green, too," she later reported. In her written statement to the local police, she said that it was so bright she could not see her own "torchlight" in the green glare. "It was a horrid sort of color. My first thought was, `I shouldn't be here, 'and I made a dive for the trees on the other side of the paddock." In the protection of the trees, Mrs. Moreland saw a sharply- outlined saucer-shaped object with two extremely bright sources of green light on the underside. The light from these sources beamed out over an area of 50 yards. Two rows of jets around the center of the object "shot out orange-colored flame" and appeared to revolve in opposite directions. The object was approximately 20 to 30 feet wide and hovered at roof-top level, about 15 feet above the ground. It was no more than 50 yards away from her. "The jets stopped," Mrs. Moreland said, "and a light was switched on in what appeared to be a perspex or glass roof or dome, which glowed." (Compare with the Ririe and Idaho Falls, Idaho, cases of late 1967) She said the bottom appeared to be of a grayish, metallic color. There was a faint hum as the object hovered "and the air became very warm." Inside the transparent dome, she said, there were two men, "dressed in fairly close-fitting suits of shiny material." She compared the material to aluminum foil. She said the occupants wore "opaque helmets" that rose straight from their shoulders. They seemed to be of normal size. She noted that one of the occupants never moved. "I could not see their faces," she said. "One of the men stood up and put two hands out in front of him, as if leaning over to look downwards. He then sat down and, after a minute or two, the jets started off again and, tilting slightly at first, the thing shot up vertically at great speed and disappeared into the clouds. When it did this, it made a soft but high-pitched sound." She reported that a peculiar smell, somewhat similar to pepper, lingered in the air as the object departed. Mrs. Moreland stood in the trees for several minutes, not knowing exactly what to do. She finally went on with her milking but was so disturbed by what she had seen that, at 7:00 a.m., she went back into the house and told her husband what had happened. Mr. Moreland, employed by the Royal New Zealand Air Force, suggested that she call the police, which she did. An official enquiry began which included an investigation by the RNZAF. Mrs. Moreland's report was given wide coverage in the press and some time later it was learned that about an hour before Mrs. Moreland's sighting a Blenheim man named Holdaway had seen a white-orange object through his window. Many people subsequently interviewed the witness, who impressed them with her straightforward account of what she had seen. NICAP has a copy of the witness' first-hand, signed report of the incident. Dr. James E. McDonald, during a trip to Australia and New Zealand in 1967, had the opportunity to interview the witness and he told NICAP that he had been quite favorably impressed. -----

"... she noticed an unusual green glow, emanating from the cloud above and bathing the area in a ghastly light... Then, suddenly, two green lights "like eyes" appeared through the clouds, circled by a band of orange lights. All around her the ground was illuminated by the sickly green light... she too was bathed in this green glow... She saw a flattish cylindrical object slowly descending from about 50 ft above the ground. It stopped its smooth descent some 30 feet above the ground and hovered about 15 feet above a group of peach trees (10-15 feet high)... it was between 7.5-8 feet high and 20-25 feet across. There were two circumferential rows of orange-green "jets" set into bands at the top and the bottom of the main body... the jets were a brilliant orange color, with greenish centers, and faded to the outside, through orange to yellow. They made a faint hissing noise... "The motionless object hovered some 30 feet above the ground, about 120 feet out in the center of the paddock... "On stopping, the jets immediately shut off and reappeared at a slight angle. Each band of jets began to counter-rotate at high speed, the top band from right to left, and the bottom band from left to right. The speed became so great that the bands of light became continuous, "like halos"... a loud humming could be heard, and the noise of the jets hissing... There was a clear, glassy, dome-like structure on top [shaped like an F-16 cockpit crossing the top of the disc], filled with a bright white light... She could see two figures seated, one behind the other and facing the same way, a little over an arm's length apart... The two figures were dressed in almost skin-tight metallic suits which crinkled and creased with each movement and reflected the light. The man at the rear suddenly stood up and leaned forward on his hands and appeared to be observing something between himself and the figure in front, possibly the brightly flickering light source... The rear figure then sank back to his former position - the front figure remained motionless... "The object then tilted slightly, the bands of jets went out, then back on again without the rotation. There was a loud "whoosh" of air and the object rose vertically (the body still at a slight angle) and vanished into the cloud at tremendous speed... accompanied by a high pitched [very loud] whine... A moment or two later a wave of warm air reached Mrs. Moreland and there was a strange hot pepper smell of ozone." - SATCU file report -----

She could hear a faint hum, and "the air became very warm." Inside the transparent dome were two men "dressed in fairly close-fitting suits of shiny material." One group from Grace Point Church on the northwest side decided to try to make a difference. Seven students and three adults squeezed into three cars with what supplies they could pack and decided to make a trip of mercy. While the pictures from Alabama say a lot. They only tell half the story. This group of students from Clark and Marshall high schools, Antonian, University of the Incarnate Word and San Antonio College got together for our camera. They recounted what they saw and help they offered in just two and a half days in central Alabama. One of the first places they went was Pleasant Grove...near Birmingham. An unforgettable sight. Antonian student Lexi Nudelman told us, "Just stuff everywhere. And it looked like a entire different planet. To be honest, it looked like what I can imagine hell looking like." She's been on a number of missions abroad in third world countries. But this was different. She may have thought it looked like hell...that is until she heard this story from a fireman who rescued a boy in a ice chest stuck in a tree. Lexi said, "he asked the little boy how did you get up here, because he was in such a weird place. And he said the man with the wings put me here." They all agree, the people they helped still stay on their minds. Like a woman named Jody they stopped to help find pictures of her family in the rubble. Another of the students, Kara Jarzombek, from Clark high school, said, "it makes it so much more personal and so much more heartbreaking because we know these people, we prayed with these people and it changes thing." It changed all them so much they wanted to stay longer, but they had to come back. The 13 hour trip gave them time to reflect. Cameron McCullers, a Clark student, admitted "it's the simple things that we take for granted that these people in Alabama do not have anymore. It's just a real eye opener." - woai ********** SETI Search for E.T. Targets Potentially Earth-Like Planets space - A new survey is under way to search for signs of intelligent extraterrestrial life, but this one has a twist: Instead of listening for alien signals from anywhere in the sky, scientists are aiming radio telescopes at the alien planets most likely to be like our own Earth. The new search, which began last week, is scanning 86 alien worlds for radio signals that could suggest the presence of an advanced civilization. The extrasolar planets are thought to be the most Earth-like of the 1,235 candidate planets discovered so far by NASA's prolific Kepler space observatory. "We've picked out the planets with nice temperatures — between zero and 100 degrees Celsius [32 and 212 degrees Fahrenheit] — because they are a lot more likely to harbor life," said physicist Dan Werthimer of the University of California, Berkeley, in a statement. This new SETI search is not part of the SETI Institute, which has long served as the Earth's ears for any signals from intelligent aliens. Earlier this month, the Institute announced it was placing its primary listening station - a network of radio telescopes called the Allen Array -- in hibernation due to funding problems. The new search, led by Berkeley astronomers, uses the Robert C. Byrd Green Bank Telescope in West Virginia, the largest steerable radio telescope in the world. On May 8, researchers kicked off the survey by pointing the instrument at eight Kepler planets for a total of an hour. Once they've scanned all 86 promising alien planets, the researchers will do a quick, coarse analysis of the data. Then, in about two months, they'll hand the observations off to an estimated 1 million amateurs working with the SETI@home project (SETI stands for "Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence.") SETI@home harnesses the power of many interconnected home computers, using them as a sort of supercomputer to analyze mountains of data. The 86 planets of interest include all 54 identified by Kepler that seem to orbit in the "habitable zone" of their parent stars — the just-right range of distances that should allow liquid water to exist. Technically, they and the other Kepler planets remain "candidates," which await confirmation by follow-up observations. But at least 80 percent of them should pan out, NASA officials have said. The new survey is perhaps the most focused effort in a longstanding search for alien radio signals. Astronomers have been scanning the heavens for decades with a variety of instruments, including the Arecibo observatory in Puerto Rico and California's Allen Telescope Array, which went into "hibernation" last month due to lack of funding. While none of these efforts have turned up any evidence of intelligent aliens, the sheer number of planets out there helps inspire researchers to keep looking. "If you extrapolate from the Kepler data, there could be 50 billion planets in the galaxy," Werthimer said. "It's really exciting to be able to look at this first batch of Earth-like planets." ********** Moscow police arrest liver-eating cannibal Police in the Russian capital have arrested a man who dismembered an acquaintance and kept him in his fridge, eating the liver, police said. Nikolai Shadrin was arrested after police located the apartment where he killed a 40-year-old Muscovite, named as Ilya Yegorov, in early May. "During the search of the apartment, tools used to dismember the victim and a human liver were found. Shadrin confessed to the crime and to having eaten part of his friend's liver," the Investigative Committee said in a statement. Yegorov was killed on May 2, and police found human body parts, including feet, a hand, and part of a shoulder, in the Moscow river and various basements in western Moscow, said Aleksei Saveliev of Moscow's western district police. At the time of his arrest, Shadrin was eating a stew of human liver, Saveliev said, according to RIA Novosti agency. The cannibal broke up the body with a small digging shovel and "was identified by his fingerprints." Shadrin has been a patient in a psychiatric asylum, investigators said. - news.com.au ********** 'The Anguished Man' Update Received email today: Hi, I've recorded some more footage of The Anguished Man if you are interested. It is probably the best footage I have recorded so far. I set the camera up again and recorded for four hours over five consecutive nights. I recorded between 1 a.m and 5 a.m because this is when the activity seemed to be more prevalent. I recorded several strange whispering noises and other unexplainable sounds. I also recorded what appears to be something moving in front of the camera. I have no explanation for the events in this video. Thanks - Sean Robinson 'The Anguished Man' Update Video **********  Huge Snake Spotted Near Morganza, Louisiana A snapshot of what is being called the "Morganza Snake" has been making it's rounds on Facebook causing an uproar as people argue whether it is "real" or "fake." We have heard from all the city and government officials that with the opening of the Morganza Spillway, that we may see animals (snakes, gators, bears, deer, hogs) in places that we don't normally see them as they seek higher ground from the water pouring into areas designated to relieve the swelling Mississippi. Here in the studio, we have determined that this photo-that originated from user 'capelloamy' on WAFB's official website–has a few things that just don't add up. The snake is easily 20 ft. long and we can't think of a species of snake in Louisiana that gets to that size. Someone noticed that some of the plants in the background aren't common in Louisiana. Why would a snake of any size be traveling so close to the road? But, we aren't experts, and we are torn, so please tell us … Real or Fake??? - 1079ishot  | ||||||

Jones California. Sasquatch nest/structure is found by 15 hikers which includes some disabled youths. One youth finds nest then incredibly sees Sasquatch on Ridgeline 750+ yards away. Filmed for 3 minutes and 44 seconds. Confirms on most every Morphological point. MMF is a stunning example of an Adult Male Sasquatch. Its actions of disappointment, despair, frustration, 60% arms show graceful movements, an inline step is clearly seen. This is a very Large Sasquatch. Scale is achieved through measurement of the trees, branches and investigators. ----- Canadian Researcher Snaps Sasquatch in Vancouver A Canadian researcher managed to take a picture of the face of the legendary hairy giant – the mascot of the Winter Olympic Games 2010. Randy Brisson, a well-known Canadian cryptozoologist, shared hot information with his Russian colleagues. The researcher sent a photograph of the North American Bigfoot to Igor Burtsev and Dmitry Bayanov, the directors of the International Center for Hominology. The Canadian took the picture of the creature in Vancouver, the capital of Winter Games 2010. Brisson assured his Russian colleagues that it was a photo of the legendary Bigfoot, or Sasquatch. The popularity of the mythical creature has won it the honor to become a symbol and a mascot of Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Mr. Brisson's photo may mean that the mascots ramble somewhere in the woods of the Olympic city. The Canadian cryptozoologist said that he had seen a Sasquatch peeking out from behind a huge stub in the woods near Pitt Lake. The spot, where the creature was supposedly photographed, is quite far from sports objects. Randy and his son Ray found big tracks on the snow along a hauling road. The footprints were quite big – it was obvious that they had been left by an adult creature. There were smaller footprints found nearby too. The toes on the feet of both the adult and the youngster were pathologically angled to one side. The researcher claimed that the creatures were breeding since he had found the footprints of both a parent and a baby. Mr. Brisson also said in his message to the Russian researchers that he and his son decided not to trace the couple because the creatures, when trying to escape, were throwing rocks at them. Kirk B. (a BFRO investigator from Washington State) brought down his FLIR H-series handheld imager for the trip. It's an expensive military-grade thermal scope that can record short clips of video -- the first type of handheld thermal scope for covert use that can actually record video internally. During the trip he recorded footage of what is very likely a sasquatch watching the camp at night. Over the past five years several people have spotted and observed sasquatches with non-recording thermal imagers during BFRO expeditions, so the usefulness of thermal imagers, and more importantly, the methodology for identifying sasquatch haunts, and the tricks for luring sasquatches toward a camp, had already been established and repeated in various parts of the country. Based on prior observations by New Mexico BFRO members, this particular expedition group knew they had a good target area. The bait they used was the base camp itself -- the sounds and smells and activities of the humans. Even though they were excited to be there, they were also disciplined enough (all ages) to maintain the right atmosphere and body language the whole time, because the right atmosphere and body language could distinguish them from hunters. They were there to look for something, but they wanted to appear like campers and hikers who brought their own food. They didn't shine spotlights around, and they didn't have guns or dogs with them. Although they made howls at night away from camp, they were otherwise mellow around camp and appeared unconcerned about their dark surroundings. They made themselves approachable. Faint recordings of vocalizations were obtained a few miles away at "Pam's Spot" on one of the nights, while back at camp, near a very deep dark shrouded ravine that locals call "the Abyss", Kirk B. recorded this tall figure spying on the camp from a distance. It was holding still (it does move slightly at points) and watching from the protection of large obstructions for several minutes. Comparative shots (see discussion forum) the next day showed the height of the figure was a bit over 7 feet. The soil was too hard for tracks (hard and dry with twiggy pine duff litter) but on a rocky shelf-landing nearby there were distinct "butt prints" in the pine duff, according to several participants. This was not the first time a sasquatch has been recorded with a thermal imager, but it was the first time it happened with a relatively brief effort (3 days), and in the presence of several people who had set out to look for them. In past instances (only 4 instances) the thermal footage was obtained with more complicated systems (imagers connected to recorders) which were not easily portable. Those clunky systems were either unmanned or the camera operator was alone and had spent much time at the location before a bigfoot came close enough.
