Strange Lights, Disembodied Voices Plague U.S. Marines at Haunted Outpost Posted: 29 Dec 2009 12:22 PM PST timesonline - The Marines found the bone as they scraped a shallow trench. Long, dry and unmistakably once part of a human leg, it was followed by others. They reburied most of them but also found bodies. Three of the graves were close together; in another was a skeleton still wearing a pair of glasses. The Marines covered the grave and told their successors to stay away from it. Observation Point Rock sits a few hundred metres south east of Patrol Base Hassan Abad, where a company from 2/8 Marines has been stationed for the past seven months. It is a lonely and exposed outpost 20 metres (65ft) above the surrounding landscape, which has been in Nato hands since it was captured from the Taleban in 2008. Groups of Marines are posted to guard it, usually for a couple of months at a time, and "the Rock" has acquired a peculiar reputation. American troops widely refer to it as "the haunted Observation Point". It is hard to say how much the 100F (38C) heat, round-the-clock guard shifts and months spent living in trenches and peering out of sandbagged firing points have gilded the legend of OP Rock. The only break from the tedium, apart from dog-eared magazines and an improvised gym, has been small-arms or rocket-propelled grenade attacks from the Taleban, usually on a Sunday morning. But as Sergeant Josh Brown, 22, briefed his successor when a detachment of men from Golf Company was swapped for an incoming contingent from Fox Company, he warned of the strange atmosphere and inexplicable phenomena that plagued OP Rock. "The local people say this is a cursed place," he said. "You will definitely see weird-ass lights up here at night." Others in the outgoing unit had reported odd sounds. "It is weird what you hear and don't hear around here," he added. Each successive detachment that guards the Rock appears to add its own layer to the legend, which has spread through the Marine units pushing into southern Helmand. There is talk of members of the Taleban entombed in caves below; the bodies buried on the summit are identified confidently as dead Russian soldiers from the ill-fated Soviet invasion. Corporal Jacob Lima's story is the latest addition. One night he was woken by the sound of screaming. It was Corporal Zolik, a Marine who has since been moved to a unit farther south. "He was yelling and begging me to go up to the firing point he was guarding," Corporal Lima, 22, told the men taking over from him. "When I got there he said that he was sitting there when he heard a voice whisper something in his ear. He said it sounded like Russian. He begged me to stay in there with him till he was relieved from guard duty. After that he really didn't like standing post up there." The Marines' predecessors, a unit of Welsh Guards, also produced tales of the unexpected. "The Brits claimed to see weird things, hear noises," Corporal Lima said. "Lots of them said it's creepy at night, especially from midnight till 4am. You see a lot of unexplained lights through night-vision goggles." Its elevation has clearly made the Rock a natural defensive position for centuries. It is not a rock, though it resembles one. Medieval arrow slits and the remains of fortified turrets on its eastern flank show that this was once a large mud fort that collapsed in on itself and was probably built upon in turn. The locals say that it dates back to Alexander the Great, and another similar structure is visible in the distance to the south, part of a supposed line of such forts built at some point in Afghanistan's history of invasion and war. When US Marines seized the post last summer they dropped a 2,000lb (900kg) bomb on one side, collapsing part of the structure on to what its current occupants claim was a cave where Taleban fighters were sheltering. "This place really sucks," said Lance Corporal Austin Hoyt, 20, putting his pack on to return to the main base. "The Afghans say it's haunted. Stick a shovel in anywhere and you'll find bones and bits of pottery. This place should be in National Geographic — in the front there are weird-looking windows for shooting arrows. You know, they say the Russians up here were executed by the Mujahidin." He looked meaningfully at his successors and prepared to leave. |
Romanek Threatens Lawsuit, Carrion Replies Posted: 29 Dec 2009 11:45 AM PST James Carrion, International Director of the Mutual UFO Network, posted the following on his blog today Follow the Magic Thread: Stan Romanek Threatens Lawsuit: Stan Romanek called the MUFON Office yesterday asking for MUFON's legal department and the street address where MUFON can be "served" papers. Unfortunately, I wasn't there to get the call. Seems like the way you get someone to stop pointing out inconvenient facts about your claims is to threaten legal action. So Mr. Romanek, this is a message for you that I won't have to serve through the Sheriff's office or through a demand letter: - In a court of law you can't manipulate the facts like you can in the court of public opinion - You have to swear to tell the truth - You have to have your claims believed by a jury of your peers, not by your friends, family, and investigators you are buddies with - You cannot withhold key evidence So, Stan, if you think I am going to stop pointing out the problems with your claims by threatening me with a lawsuit, you are sadly mistaken. There is nothing illegal about the truth. Speaking of which, please feel free to post publicly the video/photo evidence that you have yet to release to the world because I have some world class photo/video experts who are dying to analyze them: - All the ORIGINAL videos of your peeping aliens - All the ORIGINAL photos that show you with strange "reptilian" eye transformations - All the ORIGINAL photos/videos of all of your other otherworldly experiences I will be happy to give you some space on my public web server to upload them and I will make them freely available to any other photo/video analyst. NOTE: For over a year, people have asked me which side of this debate am I on. Frankly, I want the truth....though, both sides contend they are telling the truth. Honestly, Stan Romanek has made some claims that need to be proven. On the other hand, MUFON needs to back off somewhat. IMO, the statement above is tit-for-tat. Beyond that, I'm not going to comment further. What do you think? Lon |
Parents Claim Deceased Son Performs Miracles Posted: 29 Dec 2009 11:05 AM PST Click for video express - Bereaved parents George and Lina Tannous believe their dead son is performing miracles at their house. They claim a mysterious oil that weeps from the walls of his bedroom and leaves messages has helped to heal dozens of people. The oil, which scientists have failed to identify, started to appear just weeks after the 17-year-old died in a car accident in September 2006. Lina, who insists her son should be declared a saint, said: "Mike is a messenger between us and God. He has healed so many people." The number of people arriving at the house in Australia has been so great that the family have had to impose visiting times. Those hoping to find cures for ailments ranging from arthritis to cancer come to pray at the Tannous home in the western suburbs of Sydney. George said the family was keeping a record of his son's healing powers. "Our boy is a saint," he said. "This is him talking to us, talking to other people." Last year a woman who lived near the Tannous house was told by doctors she could not have the third child she desperately wanted. Mike's aunt Susan Sawan said: "She came here and prayed. A month later she came back with a box of chocolates and said: 'Guess what? I'm pregnant.'" The oil has continued to weep, appearing on almost every wall of the three-bedroom house, as well as on framed photos of Mike and religious icons. "Over the weekend we had people everywhere. We even had to close the street. They want to experience a miracle," said George. If Mike is canonised, he would be the country's first male saint. Earlier this month the Pope confirmed that Mary MacKillop, an Australian nun who died in 1909, would become its first female saint. |
Posted: 29 Dec 2009 10:42 AM PST NOTE: the following was copied from the MUFON witness reporting site today. If anyone can elaborate on anything posted in this report, please post the information. I'm not going to comment, frankly, because I'd like to look into this a bit more...Lon MUFON witness report (unedited): Saskatchewan, Canada - What I am about to describe is the truth. The precursor to the UFO event began in June 2007 at 9:23 PM. I was living in the city with my mom and was on the computer. A message popped up from my instant messenger with the words, "Agent...[censored]" and "BlackOperations", stating that someone would like to add me. I stared at it for a minute and felt amazed. Thinking to myself, "Could it be someone 'in the know' who would like to talk to me? What is 'black operations'?". I eagerly accepted the add request and opened a conversation window. The avatar displayed an emblem of, "U.S. Department of Defense" with a black background. I said, "Hello, Agent...[censored]?" the mysterious person replied and a conversation began. The "agent" told me about how I'm "key" to an "event" in the "future" along with a few "others". Than the agent elaborated a bit about a person from the year 2036 by the name of, "[censored]" (not "John Titor") and that this person was part of a special operations unit with "C204" equipment the team uses. The agent first advised me to walk away from this time traveler because, I'd understand when the time comes. Later the agent asked if I met the traveler. I have not to this day. Being so confused and amazed at the same time, I wanted to ask a lot of questions and was told that is all the agent was able to say. So I knew a little about the Titor story and seeked others for information. A few days later after divulging what had happened, to "Titor" experts, the agent contacted me and said I couldn't be trusted. There was another. I felt I had lost an opportunity to be part of a "top secret" time travel agenda because, after running a quick search on the agents name, there appeared to be a real world person. But was I being deceived or cleverly entangled with fact and fiction? ______________________ THE JOHN TITOR PHENOMENON Although there is debate over the exact date it started, on November 02, 2000, a person calling themselves Timetravel_0, and later John Titor, started posting on a public forum that he was a time traveler from the year 2036. One of the first things he did was post pictures of his time machine and its operations manual. As the weeks went by, more and more people began questioning him about why he was here, the physics of time travel and his thoughts about our time. He also posted on other forums including the former Art Bell site. In his posts John Titor entertained, angered, frightened and even belittled those who engaged him in conversation. Titor described the time machine on several occasions. In an early post, he described it as a "stationary mass, temporal displacement unit powered by two top-spin, dual positive singularities", producing a "standard off-set Tipler sinusoid". The earliest post was more explicit, saying it contained: * Two magnetic housing units for the dual micro singularities * An electron injection manifold to alter mass and gravity micro singularities * A cooling and X-ray venting system * Gravity sensors, or a variable gravity lock * Four main cesium clocks * Three main computer units According to the posts, the device was installed in the rear of a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette convertible and later moved to a 1987 truck having four-wheel drive. On March 21, 2001, John Titor told us he would be leaving and returning to 2036. After that, he was never heard from again. Speculation and investigation about who John Titor was and why he was online continues to this day.
