| The Searle Photographs, Also...Did 'Nessie' Switch Lochs? Posted: 25 Feb 2010 09:19 AM PST    NOTE: I noticed the following Loch Ness Monster ('Nessie') related items: Frank Searle allegedly took many photos of 'Nessie'. This is probably the first opportunity people have had the chance to see these since his first book was taken out of circulation because of allegations of plagiarism. Nessie: Seven Years in Search of the Monster by Frank Searle, 1976, pub. by Coronet books, London. Some of his photos are reproduced in the book. Frank died in 2005 in obscurity but for his time on the loch he was a bit of a star and TV crews came to see him and tourists flocked and could be quite aggressive if you accused him of faking the photos. Source: forteanzoology.blogspot.com ________________________________ 14 Jun 1996 - MYSTERIOUS OBJECT PLOUGHS ACROSS LOCH NESS LONDON, June 14 (Reuter) - Sixteen people watched in amazement as a mysterious object ploughed swiftly across Loch Ness, leaving a white water wake before disappearing after five minutes into the depths of the Scottish lake. "I cannot find a rational explanation for what I saw," said English tourist David Neeld, the morning after Thursday evening's sighting. "I do not think there is any other explanation than it was the Loch Ness monster." Sightings of the monster, nicknamed Nessie and often described as having a long neck and large body like a brontosaurus, have been reported since the 15th century. Several expeditions have been undertaken in the loch but they have found nothing. The strange object was first spotted at 10 p.m. by Kate Munro, joint owner of the Craigdarroch House, a hotel on the edge of the Highland lake. She alerted her husband Dave and 14 guests who watched the object for five minutes. They told reporters that it appeared to be something large just under the loch's surface, moving at high speed. "There was no traffic on the loch at all, yet here was a wake as big as comes from a cruiser," said Neeld. "There were a few locals in the hotel's bar and they said it was Nessie, so I will go along with that," he said. "I must say that I was very impressed." Another tourist, Karen Hemingway, said: "Whatever we saw was certainly quite strange. There were no boats around at all. I think I could well have seen the monster. "Around two million tourists are attracted to 40-km (25-mile) long Loch Ness each year because of the monster legend. SUNDAY TELEGRAPH - 15 Sep 96 - LIZZIE'S A SIGHT Lizzie the Loch Ness Monster's cousin is back. The beast surfaced briefly, 36 years after she was last spotted in Loch Lochy. Eyewitnesses were stunned to see the 12ft-long, three-humped creature rearing out of the water. And guests at the nearby Corriegour Lodge Hotel rushed to get a better view. Hotel boss Lorna Bunney said: "I've never seen anything like this creature before." | Reputed Hauntings Abound in Brisbane, Queensland Posted: 25 Feb 2010 08:25 AM PST  brisbanetimes - Unexplained whooshes of air rushing down corridors, a seemingly-possessed elevator and a judge's chair that mysteriously spins in the night. If you ask staff at Brisbane's Supreme and District Court building - the place is haunted. Security officers who patrol the court building's corridors after hours say dozens of "spooky and freaky" incidents within the walls of the 40-year-old building have them believing in ghosts. Even burly tradesmen called to do maintenance have high-tailed out of the place after what they believed was a supernatural incident in the basement. And Brisbane historian Jack Sim says it's not just nonsense: ghosts are attracted to gruesome places such as courts. Speaking to brisbanetimes.com.au, a female security guard at the court complex said she was certain ghosts roamed the building. During night shift she often sees the chair in Court 21 slowly spinning as if someone was sitting in it. "There's no draught in there, no way that any breeze is causing that," she said. Other court sources say Court 21 used to be the court used by an old judge who died from a heart attack and the spinning chair is his spirit haunting his old workplace.  Another worker says in Court 21 and next door in Court 22, the duress alarm repeatedly goes off and when the room is unlocked and checked out, there's not a soul around. One guard tells how two years ago two painters were in a sealed-off room in the building's basement doing maintenance work when, they claimed, a gust of icy cold wind "whooshed" past them. "They were quick out of there and never came back," said a court source. "They were convinced there was something freaky going on down there." One night as one security officer manned the front desk, he heard a nearby elevator 'ding' and then the doors open as if someone was about to get out on to the ground floor. No one was in the lift, but moments later heard the hand dryer go off in the nearby public bathroom. Again, no one there. "Then about a minute after that the exit doors just started to rattle rattle rattle, as if someone had grabbed the handles and was desperately trying to get out," he said. "It got me worked up all right. It was the strangest thing I've ever seen." The worker said he often felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up while he was walking around the building on night shift. "You get the feeling someone's right behind you and when you turn around of course there's nothing there," he said. "But I do think there are ghosts around here, for sure." Another court staffer often in the building after hours said portraits of old judges on the walls and plastic dummies dressed in 1800s clothes as part of an historical display on the second floor certainly did not help him to forget the haunted rumours. "A few times those faces have given me a scare," he said. "Also one of the elevators, the one which goes to the basement, seems to be possessed with all its door slamming and doors staying jammed open, that sort of thing." Horror historian Jack Sim said he had heard many stories about the Supreme and District Court building being haunted. A stop at the building, on the corner of George and Adelaide streets, is included in Ghost Tours he conducts in the city. "The court building is such a dark place with so much drama and so much of our most gruesome criminal history has been played out there," he said. "It's a place where stories of violence and horror have been heard and ghosts are often drawn to these sort of places. Their spirits get trapped there." Mr Sim, author of the book Haunted Brisbane, has interviewed several staffers who claimed to have witnessed ghost activity in the building, particularly in the basement. He said the workers believed the ghosts belonged to prisoners who died in the cells of the original court building built in 1876. The structure was burnt down by an arsonist in 1968 but some of the original basement cells were kept and form part of today's court building, he said. "It's an amazing place in the history of Queensland," he said. ____________________________ Originally posted 10/8/07 Brisbane Has It's Share Of Paranormal Activity  Brisbane has been called many things in its time, but haunted is probably not a common classification. Yet one paranormal enthusiast believes our sleepy little town is a hotbed of ghostly activity. Strange noises, chilling wails, unexplained lights captured on film and bumps in the night are apparently common occurrences at dozens of locations across South-East Queensland. Historic buildings like Old Government House and City Hall send a shiver up the spine of Lianna Turner, who researches and documents paranormal oddities. Old Government House Queensland University of Technology Gardens Point Campus This impressive mansion, located inside the grounds of the Queensland University of Technology in the city, was built to accommodate the state's first Governor. It was used right up until the construction of the current Government House in Bardon. While exploring Old Government House, Ms Turner explained that the mansion was one of her "main haunts" (no pun intended) because of its active paranormal atmosphere. Over several years she has amassed a vast collection of photoghraphs documenting her exploration of the house. Many contain strange lights and "orbs" that Ms Turner believes represent ghostly beings and spirits. The term "orb" is the popular name given to anomalies that appear in photographs or video, and are thought by some to be paranormal phenomenon. Others believe orbs are little more than flash reflection from dust particles. On the second floor of Old Government House, just to the right of the top of the staircase, is an anonymous-looking door with a glass feature panel. Inside is a steep, wooden staircase that leads to the attic. A member of staff from QUT, who accompanied us on the tour, said that the door was frequently found to be locked from the inside. Staff had to remove a panel of glass so the door could be unlocked. On the day of our visit the door had again been locked from the inside. There is no secondary access to this room. Just around the corner is a large room that was once the home's day nursery. As we rounded a dark and musky corridor, the door to the room blew open. Inside, the three doors that led out onto the balcony were open and blowing wildly in the wind. "These are supposed to be locked," our guide remarked. She bolted them closed before we moved on to the next room. A few minutes later, I returned to the room to take some more photographs. Despite being locked a moment earlier, the three doors to the balcony were again open and blowing in the wind. The echo of slamming doors throughout the house was common as we made our way from room to room although it must be said that it was a particularly windy day. Yet Ms Turner said she could often feel a "presence" in what is thought to be the Governor's bedroom and the day nursery. She believes the spirit of a young girl named Wendy inhabits the house. Historical records detailing the house's early residents are largely unavailable, so it may never be known if a little girl named Wendy once lived here. City Hall King George Sqaure Brisbane Several stories of deaths at City Hall circulate, spanning the eras before and after construction of the impressive structure. During the building's construction workmen were said to have died while placing the foundations, which were on top of a former swamp. It is also said that the area was once a significant Aboriginal site - either a meeting place or camp ground. There was a story told of a little girl who fell to her death near the entrance to the elevator that takes current visitors to the top of the bell tower. Another story claims an American soldier was stabbed to death during the war after a fight over an Australian girl turned ugly. Staff are said to have reported the sounds of an argument from the Red Cross Tea Room. A caretaker is also said to have taken his life in room 203 on the third floor sometime during the 1940s. While visiting, Ms Turner asked staff in the concert hall if they had ever experienced anything out of the ordinary. One man said that a colleague was working in the spot light box at the top of the hall one evening when he heard a knock at the door. He went to greet the visitor, only to find no one there. He returned to his work when the knock came again a short time later. He again found no one at the door. Suspecting a group of children were to blame, he waited by the closed door for the knock to come again. When it did, he flung the door open and charged out, only to find an empty hallway. Ms Turner took a number of photographs of the concert hall during out visit and later noticed an orb on the photograph. She showed me another she had taken months earlier that showed a similar-sized orb floating in the air of the hall. Nudgee Cemetery Bora Ring Nudgee It's hardly surprising that a paranormal enthusiast would find a cemetery interesting, but Ms Turner describes Nudgee's resting place as "cold, dark and uninviting". She has taken a number of photographs that show strange streaks of light and orbs in the dead of night. The section of the cemetery where a priest and nuns are buried even holds a level of eeriness, especially at night, she said. Just down the road at the back of a sports field is Nudgee's very own bora ring. Bora is the name given both to an Aboriginal initiation ceremony and the land on which it was performed. It is here that young boys were transformed into men, with ceremonies varying from culture to culture. Bora rings are circles of hardened earth surrounded by raised embankments, and are generally found in pairs. Ms Turner finds the ring to be relaxing and peaceful, and captured a strange white light at the bottom of a photograph.  |
| This Is Why Orcas Are Called 'Killer' Whales Posted: 25 Feb 2010 08:36 AM PST  orlandosentinal - Before I say anything else, please understand that my heart goes out to SeaWorld trainer Dawn Brancheau, her family and all the people who loved and admired her. From all accounts, she had a beautiful soul. And, yes, I know SeaWorld does a lot of good things for wildlife conservation. I also once saw the popular "Dine with Shamu" show there, and I agree it's entertaining. But I wouldn't go again. I have to think that Brancheau's death Wednesday at the popular marine park attraction is a tragic reminder of why creatures as big as Tilikum — the killer whale that apparently dragged her underwater and drowned her — simply should not be in captivity. The World Society for the Protection of Animals and the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society are just two of the organizations that have campaigned against the practice. First, killer whales in captivity often get sick and live on average only into their 20s (though there are exceptions). In the wild, the females typically live into their 50s or beyond and the males at least into their 30s. Advocates for the orca blame the stress of captivity — the lack of natural social groups, the tight confines, the chemically treated water. These are highly intelligent creatures with entrenched socialization habits and sophisticated communication skills. And you cannot ignore their most obvious feature: their size. Perhaps I'm being simplistic, but if you were 26 feet long and weighed more than six tons, where would you rather swim — in a tank or freely in an ocean? I've been a fan of SeaWorld for years, and I will continue to be — at least for certain parts of it. I happen to love the "Pets Ahoy!" show the park started using shelter dogs and cats and other small animals, who probably live a pretty happy life at the park. But they are creatures domesticated over centuries. Somewhere I think you have to draw the line. I'm not sure precisely where, but I think you can safely say that it's well before you get to killer whales. _________________________ Killer Whales Don't Kill People in the Wild By Jeanna Bryner - LiveScience - News of a trainer being killed by a killer whale at SeaWorld Orlando today doesn't change the fact that these giants, while deadly predators, do not kill humans at sea. "They have never killed a human in the wild," said Nancy Black, a marine biologist with Monterey Bay Whale Watch. That's mostly because, unlike sharks, killer whales don't frequent near-shore areas where people swim. (Even shark attacks on humans are generally accidental, experts say, with sharks mistaking humans for seals or other typical food.) Details of the event today were sketchy, and SeaWorld officials contacted by LiveScience said they could not comment on the incident yet. According to news reports, the orca drowned its female trainer as tourists watched in horror. But this killer whale at SeaWorld probably didn't intentionally kill the trainer. "I just think the killer whale may have wanted a social companion and just held her under too long," Black told LiveScience. "I would think the killer whale didn't do it intentionally but more as a play thing. They're so powerful." She added killer whales don't have to come up for air as often as a human might and could reasonably hold someone underwater for 15 to 20 minutes. Possibly the killer whale just got bored, she said, since their lives in captivity are more confined than at sea where they spend time swimming hundreds of miles while hunting or playing. "I've seen them toss seals 20 feet in the air with their flukes. They could mistake you for another mammal," Black said of the transients. In general, killer whales, or Orcinus orca, are very intelligent and playful animals, amusing themselves anything from kelp to seals, Black said. But even though they are shown off at aquaria with fuzzy stuffed animals to boot, they are still wild animals. And they are big, growing to 32 feet and weigh a whopping 18,000 pounds, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). As apex predators, killer whales have few enemies, vulnerable only to large sharks. Their fierce reputation comes from interactions with whales, not humans. In fact, sailors who witnessed killer whale attacks on larger cetaceans referred to the animals as "whale killers." That name changed to killer whales. The Spanish sometimes refer to the orca as Ballena asesina, meaning "assassin whale," according to the MarineBio Conservation Society. Not all orcas dine on mammals. Those living in Norway prefer fish. But the so-called transients, which occur throughout the eastern North Pacific, eat other marine mammals, such as dolphins, sea lions and seals.  |
| What Will It Take For Us To Listen? Posted: 25 Feb 2010 07:08 AM PST  Chris Holly's Paranormal World - I was looking at you tube videos I had stored on my favorites list. I decided to play the video of Dr. Edgar Mitchell being interviewed by an English radio host that I had not really listened to fully the day I saved it. I could not believe my ears, how could I have simply placed this video in my favorites and not given it the incredulous reaction it deserved? Furthermore, how in the world did this interview simply fade away? A Doctor of Science, an American Astronaut clearly stated while being interviewed by the host on Kerrang radio on July 23, 2008 that he knows UFO's exist and that we have been visited many times by Aliens! He did not say he thinks or maybe or perhaps or it could be, this man of science who walked on the moon said they EXIST. In my mind that is a life changing statement and this video a huge lifetime event! I understand that every skeptic on earth as well as media controlled hack immediately went after this interview with the vengeance of a starving shark. Of course this interview was quickly shoved under the rug along with all the other pieces of information considered condemned by the controlling media and powers that be. Surely Dr Mitchell felt it was time to just be honest about this subject and laid his cards on the table. The shame here is that this interview did not become world- wide news. Instead it died a fast and furious death. During his interview Dr Mitchell said he knows we are not alone and that there is life throughout the universe. He said he was privileged to have been let in on the fact that we have been visited many times on this planet. He also described the aliens he knew of as the typical small strange little grays we talk about. Dr Mitchell clearly feels that in time we will all take the knowledge of life exists in other parts of the universe as fact and finally let this become part of the sciences we understand. I was astounded that this radio interview has simply faded away from the public's eye. I understand many will try to discredit this interview and this man. I however am NOT one of them. When a man who has walked on the moon, an astronaut, a man of space and science tells us - yes there are UFO's and aliens- I listen. Being one who already knew that these things exist I am thrilled to hear a man of his credentials stand up and speak up. What I am confused about is why so few listened? Listening to Edgar Mitchell freely discuss how it is common knowledge to the governments of the world that we not only are visited by alien societies and have been working with them was a bit difficult to just shrug off. It seems logical to me that our advancements in the last 50 to 100 years has had a helping hand from others far more advanced than the horse riding, fireplace burning earthlings who previously were happy at that level of existence for hundreds of years. What if our sudden genius and advancements of the last century were given to us with our side of the agreement being to allow the visiting aliens to come and go as they please? We may provide open areas for them to keep bases or landing areas. A more sinister side of this agreement could be that the aliens help themselves to a limited amount of humans for experimental purposes via abductions while the governments of the world look the other way. Perhaps a portion of those who go missing and do not return have been chosen by the visitors as specimens they have kept for breeding or other assorted reasons. I listened with care to the radio show Dr. Edgar Mitchell willingly took part in with the English radio host. It was clear and exact to my ears that this doctor of space and science told us all they are here and we have known it for a long time. Not only do we know it we have worked with them to our advancement and the aliens needs. If you think about this with a clear uncluttered line of reason you can see that the human race was advancing slowly along in history at a rather similar rate for hundreds of years. We managed to stay with horses for transportation and communication being the written word transported by horse or ships for thousands of years. Our history has been that discovery and advancement was slow and cautious. However in a span of 100 years we leap from fireplaces and barns to computers, air travel and trips to mars? How is it we became so very advanced in such a short time yet stayed the same for hundreds if not thousands of years previous? It sure looks funny to my simple human eyes. I wonder how we became so very smart yet still have a world full of humans that cannot or barely read and write. How is it we have space stations yet still have a planet where people are suffering from starvation and disease? How do all this things balance out without question or thought? How did part of us become so advanced while others stay so primitive? I listened to that interview with Dr Mitchell and I thought about all the out of balance pieces of this world. I tried to make sense of the sudden leap of advancement for the few among a world of human beings who naturally advance at a much slower rate. Of course this could be the natural way of life on our planet however it still does not explain the jump in sudden science developments and growth that have been accomplished over such a limited amount of time. It now makes sense to me how we cannot seem to find a balance for all of mankind as far as a equal way of life on this planet. We are not natural to this fast progression of things and our out of whack planet proves this to be true. How can one part of this planet be reaching out to space while other areas are still living as they did hundreds of years ago? How can a species so advanced they have wireless communication still not figure out how to prevent children from dying due to lack of food and water? How can so many of us sit and use computers yet we have no idea how they work or how to build them? We use them as we have been given them but truly as a whole are not smart enough beings to be this technically advanced. It seems extremely odd that those who are the most advanced in military ability and air flight advancements are still driving around in gas fed vehicles and fighting wars over outdated forms of energy. How did things get so lopsided and out of proportion? If we were developing our technology on our own wouldn't the spectrum of genius be spread among all our problems as a natural progression of mankind? I think we were given a great deal of our technology which gave us the huge leap forward that has occurred in the last century. It may have been given willingly or taken and back engineered or worked out as a trade agreement. I do not think we are the intelligent life form in this universe. I think we are the visited life form being advanced by the other intelligent life forms. We earthlings made this an easy road for both the visiting aliens and those working with them. History proves we are easily controlled and follow like sheep what we are told to do or think. As beings we follow the way we are pointed and rarely have the common sense to question or consider what is going on around us. Look at the condition of our economy, the state of the world. We did not just wake up one morning to find crisis all around us. It was hurling at us for years. Just like the UFO Alien subject, we just believed what the TV told us, followed along with what everyone else said or simply did not care to notice! I would imagine that the advancements given to us is limited and done with caution. I think we are given our gifts of knowledge slowly and carefully. We are as a life form far too violent at this point in time to simply hand over anything we could blow up the universe with. Look at how hate filled we are towards one another on matters of politics and world problems. Instead of joining forces for solutions we attack each other with vengeance and rage. Can you imagine if we were given the secrets of the universe? Surely they understand that and keep us at bay and limited until we can reach a far more civilized level. I realize this is a wild essay with incredible theories but what makes my ideas any stranger than having an astronaut who has been in space and walked on the moon tell a radio host in England that without question we have been visited and most of us gave that statement no notice or reaction. Is it just me or are we simply growing dumber and more brainwashed by the day? Can you imagine what the truth really is on these matters? I dare say it would astound even the most open minded of us. The truth is out there, however our planet full of earthlings do not seem to be ready to deal with it! To my amazement I found this video below of Dr Mitchell telling somewhat of a different story to that of the one he told the English radio host. It is obvious to me something occurred to the Doctor to have him change his view a bit and weigh his words so carefully. I am disheartened by not only this new video but also by the ignorant behavior of the newscaster hosts. They could not be more condescending or arrogant about the entire subject matter. This entire scenario is a lesson to us all why and how we stay in the Dark Ages with all things unknown that are considered paranormal. Oh how visiting life forms must laugh at us!
