| The Return of the Boggy Creek Monster? Posted: 10 Jun 2011 05:23 PM PDT  Hello Sir - My brother and his wife had a shocking event on May 5th, 2011 when they were driving home to Genoa, Arkansas from a visit with his in-laws in Texarkana. He was driving east bound on Tennessee Rd (County Rd. 16) at around 7:30 pm and had just gone by Mosely Rd. when a creature suddenly jumped out of the trees and brush, crossed the road and blended into the thick woods. It was headed in the direction of Old Bitty Lake. They both had a decent look at it and say it was about 6 foot tall and very stout with huge legs and feet. It was covered with very long reddish-brown hair that had dirt and debris stuck to it. When they stopped the car to look into the direction it went into the woods they got a whiff of a horrific stench (the windows were open). I had heard the tales of the 'Fouke Monster' since I was a young girl but never bought into the hype. We actually lived near the Mercer Bayou at one point and talked to several people who verified the stories. My brother doesn't dare identity himself since he feels that it may cause problems but he felt there was a need for a warning. I do believe him because he has never lied to me and is a very trustworthy, hard-working man. He is also a very experienced outdoorsman and knows the swamps and backwoods of southwest Arkansas liked the back of his hand. But this has left him shaken, to the point where he was at a loss for words when talking to me. That is VERY unlike him. That's about all he had to say. NOTE: I've read many accounts about Arkansas swamp monsters over the years...none much different that this account. The area where this sighting supposedly occurred is only 10-15 miles north from the area of the 'Fouke Monster' incident...but I am still very wary. I'll keep my radar up, but I have serious doubts even though the witness seemed honest and forthcoming. Has anyone heard of other sightings in this part of Arkansas that my corroborate this report? Lon  -----  Another famous creature is the White River Monster, a mystery so widely accepted that it has it's own game preserve! From about 1915 to the 1970's, residents of the small town of Newport reported seeing a monster in the nearby river. The sightings were not constant but seemed to occur many at a time. The monster was described as being sea-serpent-like and at least thirty feet long. Witnesses reported that it made a loud bellowing noise and had a spiny backbone. The reports varied the creature's size over the years and it was often encountered by fisherman and campers along the river. Two men reported in 1971 that they saw three-toed tracks along the muddy river banks and a place where the monster had crushed some of the vegetation.  In 1973 a resolution was passed in the Arkansas State Legislature creating the White River Monster Refuge along all of the White River that runs adjacent to the Jacksonport State Park. This resolution made it illegal to "molest, kill, trample, or harm the White River Monster while he is in the retreat." The Fouke Monster was seen near this town in southwest Arkansas at the junction of the Sulphur and Red Rivers. The sightings occurred between 1955 and 1975 along Boggy Creek.  | ||||
| Fortean / Alternative News: New PA Bigfoot Prints, World Record Catfish and Recent Animal Mutilation Posted: 10 Jun 2011 03:01 PM PDT    New Fayette County, PA Bigfoot Evidence From Eric Altman, Director of the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society: These very unusual tracks were discovered on 6-8-2011 by a man who went to an area to target shoot. he claims he discovered them after investigating what caused several deer to quickly flee a wooded area. Chris Brinker, my brother in law went to investigate and was able to see the tracks and take some photos just minutes before they were destroyed by a strong thunderstorm. Only measurements and photos were taken and will be posted soon as well, no castings were made. The discovery was in Fayette County, Southwestern Pennsylvania by two men on 6-8-2011 and reported to us late that afternoon. We do not and can not conclude these are tracks left by a Bigfoot creature, we can ascertain from the photos that they are very strange tracks, possibly left by a human. It was the carcass of a dog missing the rear half of its body and all of its entrails, as can be attested by the images accompanying this note. Faced with this circumstance, many speculated as to the motives behind the unfortunate animal's demise. "This one was eaten by a wild beast," said one resident, when asked by another, who challenged him, riposting: "Had it been a wild beast, the carcass would be torn – notice that the cut is straight, as though made by a knife or something similar." There were also those who alleged that "this was part of a Satanic ritual." What is strange about the situation is that the incision made upon the animal halfway up its body is rather "clean" – that is to say, as if cut by a saw or a similar implement. Also striking was the darker color of the animal's flesh around the incision, as if a heat source had been involved in the cutting element. It should be further noted that the animal was missing all of its entrails. Expect further reports." ********** Ohio man claims 'wolf scratch' made him growl at police Thomas Stroup, 20, of Sheffield Township was arrested after attacking people and growling at police officers, blaming his behaviour on being scratched by a wolf in the woods. He also said he blacks out when the moon comes out. Sheriff's deputies were sent to Timber Ridge Campground early on Sunday after receiving a report of a "very violent," out-of-control male. Stroup's friend told dispatchers he had drunk too much alcohol and was fighting with other campers and had kicked a dog cage. Deputies found Stroup passed out under a trailer that had its door open, revealing numerous knives, swords and edged weapons. They woke Stroup, who wouldn't open his eyes and would only growl at them. Stroup, who spoke with a thick Russian accent, slurred his words and had difficulty standing. As Stroup was taken to a cruiser, he yelled at a deputy, "I'm going to kill your cousin, Keith!" No one knew who Keith was. While en route to the Lorain County Jail, Stroup said he had been scratched by a wolf in the woods and blacks out when the moon comes out. He was charged with underage consumption of alcohol. - northcoastnow ********** One-Armed Bandit and.... Police are trying to find the man they say held up a SEFCU bank in Albany. A man missing his left arm from the elbow down walked into the bank just after noon. He walked up to the teller and asked for cash. Police say he never showed a weapon. The suspect then took the cash and fled on foot. No one was hurt. Police say the one-armed suspect is a white man about 5'9" tall. - fox23news ....One-Legged Burglar A one-legged thief was caught after leaving a trail of solitary footprints at the scene of the crime. David Phillips, whose leg is amputated above the knee, had stolen computers and jewellery in a series of raids. But he was trapped when he left a string of crutch marks and right footprints in muddy ground at the scene of one of his break-ins. The tell-tale trail led right to his flat and a police source said: "It was not the hardest series of crimes to solve as he cuts a pretty distinctive figure with one leg. "By the time he left a trail in the mud, even Inspector Clouseau might have managed to collar him." Phillips, 44, was jailed for 40 months at Perth Sheriff Court after admitting housebreaking, breaching a curfew and brawling with police. The court was told he lost his leg through drugs and didn't know it had been amputated until he woke up in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. Alan Kempton, prosecuting, said as well as the muddy trail, police found DNA traces at one scene. Phillips laughed and told them it would not be his. But it proved a perfect match. John McLaughlin, defending, said: "He is hoping a prosthetic leg will be available soon which will enable him to lead a more active life." - dailyrecord **********  Welsh Angler Catches World Record Giant Mekong Catfish David Kent, a 54-year-old Welsh angler, now holds the all-tackle record for the largest species of freshwater fish in the world. He earned his record by hauling in a 260-pound Giant Mekong catfish from a lake in Thailand last November. It is the largest freshwater fish to ever be caught on record. His catch was made official by the IGFA this week, according to WalesOnline. Kent is a retired Royal Navy Commander and was on vacation at a fishing resort with his wife when he hooked this monster fish using sweetcorn as bait. The battle lasted about an hour, and at one point Kent had to wade into the lake so the fish wouldn't spool him. Even though Kent's catfish measures more than 7 feet long, it's by no means the largest member of its species. Mekong catfish have been estimated to grow up to 660 pounds and 9 feet long. "I usually catch bass weighing four or five pounds off the Pembrokeshire coast so this [fish] was a bit bigger than I'm used to," Kent told WalesOnline.  | ||||
