| Legendary and Modern Cryptid Humanoids of China Posted: 04 Sep 2010 11:37 AM PDT  A week or so ago, I posted Humanoid / Cryptid Encounter Reports - Japan after I received an email from a reader who wanted to know of any known reports from Japan. The response was quite favorable, so I have decided to periodically post cryptid humanoid encounter reports, historical accounts and lore from various locations worldwide. In this post, I'm focusing on legendary and modern cryptid humanoids of China.HAIRY BEAST Location/Date: Hong Kong, China - March 1955 - evening Doors were barred in Hong Kong as the police searched for a hairy beast, said by terrified residents to be a shaggy animal over 6 ft tall. One man, a village gardener named Law Chiu had fought it and lived. The thing attacked him about 50 yards from the family temple. It was covered with long, shaggy gray hair. It stood upright when it came at him. He punched it in the stomach but the creature fell on him and they grappled for some time. The creature then went away, loping on all fours. Some time after that a woman saw a strange animal galloping past her vegetable garden on four legs, and as proof she exhibited large triangular footprints in the soft earth. They were unlike those made by a man or ape. Source: The Saucerian Review ********** FAMILY ABDUCTED Location/Date: Ping Wu, Szechwan Province, China - March 7 1987 - midnight A family of three, including a young child was awakened by a loud high-pitched hum coming from outside their small home. All three went outside to investigate and were nearly blinded by a beam of yellowish light coming from a huge reddish orange object shaped like a straw hat that hovered above them, slowly spinning. The hum grew louder and all three had a strange floating sensation then blacked out. They all woke up and found themselves strapped to three steel tables in a circular room. The woman began screaming then a tiny hatchway opened in the wall and five 3-foot tall humanoid creatures stepped into the room. They were human in shape but with featureless faces with three huge whitish eyes on their foreheads. Their skin appeared transparent and bluish in color. The creatures said nothing as they proceeded to remove blood from the arms of all three abductees. They then inserted long needles into their knees and ankle joints. The husband and the child appeared to have been in a trance-like state during the incident. Electrode like devices were taped to their skulls and the woman was again able to hear the loud high-pitched hum that they initially heard outside their home. One of the beings made an incision on the child's thigh that was immediately healed by a pencil like device that was passed over it. Moments later the room became dark and everything began spinning. Their next conscious memory was walking on a roadside 7 miles from their home. Source: Lillian Crowner Desguin NOTE: Rare but unconfirmed abduction report from communist China...Lon ********** 3 NIGHTS...3 ABDUCTIONS Location/Date: Peking, China - May 1, 1981 - 9:00pm The witness was sleeping at a hostel dormitory with many others when a voice woke him up telling him that he was going to be taken onboard an object. A small craft then entered the room apparently passing right through the wall. A beam of light shone on him and he was apparently then reduced in size and lifted up into the object, which left at high speed. Inside the craft he saw a lighted circular chamber and was able to see stars through an opened porthole. In the center of the room there was a screen showing a constellation and stars. Seated at the screen was a blond young woman. She spoke to him and took him to a large launching area where many objects of different shapes and sizes were parked near a control tower. Later he was returned from where he had been taken from. The next eveing, the witness was again sleeping when he heard a voice inviting him inside an object. He was lifted up and taken onboard a craft through a porthole. Inside he met two "normal" Chinese girls and the blond woman from the previous encounter. They were shown a screen where they saw a series of images showing different periods of Chinese history, concluding with a view of the earth as it used to be. They landed at the "launching" area where he saw numerous human like beings. He found himself being transported through the air and then placed on a slab where he was given a detailed physical examination. He was later returned. The brother of the main witness reported seeing a large craft like object that entered his room and landed on the floor. Several small men dressed in one-piece garments and carrying what appeared to be "surgical" instruments emerged. They laid the witness down on his bed and opened up his stomach. They sewed it back up and departed without saying a word. The very next night, the witness was sleeping when he felt somebody push him. He opened his eyes and saw a strange man standing in front of him. The man was covered completely with short gray hairs and had two long fangs in his mouth. The being waved an arm and the witness floated up into the air and into a landed object outside the house. The witness was then taken to a large base where he saw many similar hairy beings that appeared to be engaged in repairing landed UFOs. While the witness was being brought back to his home a blond girl who he had previously encountered asked him several questions and he was also allowed to ask some himself. Source: Gordon Creighton, FSR ********** CRASHED ALIEN CRAFT Location/Date: Gobi Desert, Outer Mongolia, China - 1982 - unknown time Chinese military units accidentally stumbled upon a crashed alien spacecraft in this isolated desert region. A retrieval team was summoned and the site properly cordoned off. Everything possible was done to avoid any information leaked to civilians and to other Chinese military sections. The craft was slightly damaged and abandoned by its crew. It was about 10 meters long and about 2.5-3 meters in diameter. Its shape was cylindrical, with a very durable surface. Sophisticated equipment apparently used by alien entities was found inside the cabin, with chairs for 2 or 3 entities. The cylinder was loaded upon a platform on a flatbed truck or railroad carriage and moved to a must secured underground Government research installation in a military range southwest of Beijing under the Taihang-Shan Mountains. The alien spacecraft was subjected to extensive study and research. Another UFO, which crashed in 1973, was also stored at the site. Source: Anton Anfalov NOTE: The Taihang Shan Mountains contain a network of underground tunnels for Chinese strategic missiles. Speculation is that part of that underground network is used to hide rumored crashed UFOs as well as remains of alien beings. In January, 2005 in the area that borders Nepal, tourists returning from Nepal were talking about a possible UFO crash in that country. The talk was also rampant in Katmandu, capital of Nepal and other Nepali cities. The crash site is in the deep Himalayan border of Nepal and China. According to sources, the crash site may have been close to Mount Everest and is totally inaccessible from either side. The rumor is that the Chinese military was actively looking for the crashed craft. It is also rumored that the 'human-like' extraterrestrials were not allowing anyone to get close to the site. Unusual activities and some tremors were felt all over the Himalayan regions from both the Indian and Nepalese side. Also UFO activity increased sharply in that area, possibly related to the supposed crash. It is possible that the crash was nothing more but a Chinese spacecraft. China had some secret military projects in that area. In January, the weather is so inclement that is almost impossible to reach the area, everything is frozen over. According to some, it is possible that underground UFO bases in the region were damaged by the tremor and strange aftershocks were being felt since the huge 9.0 Richter scale quake in December 2004 in Sumatra, which caused the huge tsunami...Lon ********** TWO TALL SHIPS SAILING ON THE CLOUDS Location/Date: Yugiu, Jiangsu, China - 1523 - daytime A teacher named Lu Yu who lived in the village of Yugiu was standing outside his home under a torrential rain when he noticed two "ships" which were sailing on top of the clouds above some ruins across from his home. On the two ships "which measured more than ten arms each" he could see several tall men wearing each one a hat and multicolored clothing. They were holding a "pole" in each hand as the ships moved quickly overhead. The teacher Lu Yu then alerted "ten well read men" who stood beside him to observe the phenomenon. The ships then descended over the teacher and the ten other men and took the men onboard the ships. The multicolored clothed beings "then passed their hands over the mouths of the well-read scribes who could not speak anymore." At this time other men appeared on one of the ships, escorted like a Mandarin and accompanied by a monk. Some time later the ships flew away, through the clouds and were seen descending about a kilometer away near a cemetery. When the ships left the "ten well read scribes" were able to speak again. But five days later, Lu Yu died of unknown causes. Source: Shi Bo "China and the Extraterrestrials" 1983 ********** THE YEREN  The yeren, otherwise known as the Chinese wildman, is a hairy humanoid that is said to inhabit the dense forests of China. About man-sized, it has quite distinctive red hair.The yeren usually sounds like a bipedal, more human-like version of an orangutan. It could be an orangutan that has evolved to fill a more ground-dwelling niche, with associated bipedalism and thus it ends up looking like a Bigfoot or missing link through sheer coincidence. Bipedalism has evolved independently in the ape family at least two times, so it is at least slightly possible that this has happened yet again with an isolated population of orangutans. In some reports, yeren sound less like bipedal orangutans and more like standard an ape-like hominid such as Bigfoot. These reports typically describe a creature varying between six and seven feet tall, with a heavy, muscular build and anatomical features that lean more towards the human side than towards the ape side. Fur colors are also more variable, with less instances of red. Some reports in this category sound so human-like than the yeren is thought by some researchers to be a primitive species of human, such as a Neanderthal man. ********** THE CYNOCEPHALI  The Cynocephali exist in the mythology of Europe, India and China though there have been sporadic encounters through the centuries. The legends in the Chinese culture originally said that the Cynocephali resided somewhere in the wild lands west of Tibet and north of Persia (modern-day Iran). The Cynocephali were described as shapeshifters who could change from human to dog, but who always retained some animal features when they became human again.If real Cynocephali exist, it is hard to decide what sort of animal they might be. It was once thought that these legends might be garbled accounts of baboons, monkeys with dog-like snouts. Further studies have suggested that the Cynocephali tales are actually based on dog ancestor origin myths from various tribes in the Chinese wilderness. | Discovery of Embedded Object / Metal Implants Posted: 04 Sep 2010 09:47 AM PDT  The following report was found at the MUFON CMS. It's pertains to a "metallic foreign body present in the right cheek" of the inquirer's family member:I am using this form because there was no contact info that I could find. This involves an unidentifiable metal implant found in the cheek of a family member. This was found by Parkland Hospital in Dallas Texas via XRay and MRI. This thing, whatever it is, was not something that we were ever previously told about nor was it anything associated with why he was receiving care at Parkland. They noted it several times and did not make any conclusions. Parkland made no mention of this thing to us or him. I discovered the reports of the implanted object after getting his medical files from Parkland for a private physician. The reports simply state there is a "metallic foreign body present in the right cheek". Oddly, the VA hospital in Dallas made no note whatsoever of the object in their MRI or XRay reports, yet there are numerous reports in the Parkland files. There is no wound accompanying the metal object. Our relative cannot feel it and did not know it was there. This was discovered in May 2010 after he fell at home and the EMTs took him to Parkland where extensive testing was done and then approximately four days later he was transferred by ambulance to the VA hospital in Dallas. He is retired now and over the years I have wondered many times if the military implanted something in his body. No, he never was in battle or explosions but his job in the military was Top Secret. I do know families of military guys who have said civilian hospitals found strange metal implants in such places as the mastoid area of their loved ones. We really don't know what to think about this or the UFO issues. We just want to know what this thing is and if anyone out there has any information on these implants. At this time we have no idea if it should be included in any surgical removal plan or not. He is old and physically frail now but his mind is clear as a bell, and of course we are wondering if that thing showed up in the films years ago and nobody said anything. I'd like to pull all those records. All of the other metallic items noted on the films such as clamps and wires from heart surgery were correctly and readily identified. Not that thing in his cheek. This woman was teaching a night course at a local college in Farmingdale New York during the late 1980"s. Her class ended around 9 pm each night. She would leave the college campus and drive home the exact same way each night. It would take her about 10 minutes to arrive home. She followed this routine without deviation arriving home by about 9:15 pm. One night, while following her regular routine something went wrong. She recalls the entire night up to the point she was midway on her drive home. She remembers starting for home in her car and getting to the point where she was about to take one of her last turns towards home along a rather deserted stretch of road. Her memory fails her from this point on. Her husband started to become concerned as he waited for her that night. 10 pm; then 10:30 pm came and went without any sign of his wife returning home. At this point he followed the path his wife took home each night from the college. She was nowhere to be found. Concerned he returned home. He decided to wait another hour before calling the police. The woman told me that the next thing she recalls about that night is waking up slumped over in her car. She found herself lying across her front seat, groggy and disoriented. When she sat up and looked around she had no idea where she was. She knew it was a deserted parking lot of some kind but did not recognize it. She started her car and drove out of the lot and followed the roads until she found a main road. When she started to drive she found signs that told her she was in Far Rockaway, close to New York City, about an hour and a half away from her home. She had never been to Far Rockaway before and had to drive around until she found a highway she knew to drive back towards her hometown on Long Island. This woman told me she arrived home about midnight terrified and confused. She told her husband what had happened. She then began to vomit and feel faint. Her husband helped her to bed and noticed she had a bright red rash on her arm. She fell into bed and went into a deep sleep. The next day she woke up feeling ill and shaken. Her stomach hurt, her head hurt and she was frightened. Her husband searched the car and found what looked like something had sandpapered the back trunk section of the cars paint. He also thought the car had a very sour chemical smell inside. The woman has no recall of what happened to her that night. She knows she did nothing but try to drive home and that something interfered with her journey. To this day she has no idea what happened to her or her car that night. I found her to be a very intelligent rational woman and cannot offer her an explanation other than it fits into many other stories I have heard concerning lost time in our area. The woman told me that within a few days of her lost time event she developed a lump on her hand. She could move it around and thought it was a bite that was going to dissolve away as bites do. The swelling did go away and she did not give it much more thought. Over the years she would have moments when her hand would hurt a little and she was able to feel what seemed to be a little hard ball under the skin in her hand. It did not bother her much so she just forgot about it most of the time. While away with her husband the woman's hand started to swell and hurt. She finally went to a doctor to see what was going on and what that little hard ball was that floated around under her skin in her hand. Her doctor did not seem to know what it could be and ordered X-rays of her hand. The X-rays showed a small round object lodged in her hand. The doctor thought it best he remove the object. When the object was removed from her hand it was a small odd shaped white thing that did not look like the calcium deposit the doctor had anticipated. He examined the object for a long time and confessed to this woman he never had seen anything like it before and did not know what it was. The woman was glad it was removed and did not want thing to do with it and left it there to be discarded. Upon returning home she realized she should have taken the embedded object with her and called the doctors office. They claimed she was too late as they had already sent the object out to be tested for the ordinary tests that are done on growths. The woman requested the object be saved and was told they would contact the lab. Of course the tests came back about a week later that the object was not malignant however the lab did not keep the specimen and it was long discarded. The woman realized she had made a terrible mistake but was very glad to be rid of the strange object. I could only listen and feel frustrated at what was lost. If the object had been kept for proper inspection perhaps we could have made a break through as to what these objects are made of and what their purpose may be. Shortly after communicating with this woman about the object in her hand I received an email from a reader telling me of a similar event. He described his ordeal in an email to me as follows: It was 46 years ago when I was a little boy. My family moved to Levittown, Pennsylvania. I was about 4 going on 5 years old at the time. One day I was playing in the front yard in an April blossom tree that was right outside my kitchen window. My mother was inside cooking or cleaning. While I was sitting in the tree a bright vision appeared to me. Frightened by the vision I was immediately felt comforted because I thought my vision was of Jesus. The vision told me not to be afraid. My vision was bright white surrounded by a gold glow with what looked like angels around the Jesus figure. Frightened again by the Angels my vision comforted me and told me nothing bad would ever happen to me. I recall I asked many questions- many of which I have forgotten. I will always remember him telling me to be kind and good to others. He told me that is how I would be able to be with him and his Father in Heaven. I also remember asking him if I will ever see him again, sadly for me, he said the next time I would see him would be with his Father in Heaven. That experience always made me believe that Jesus did exist. After my vision ended I came down from the tree and went inside to tell my mom what had happened. When I went inside my mom was angry and distraught. She was worried sick. She had been looking for me for more than an hour as she had told me not to leave the front yard. I told her that wasn't possible because I was in the tree in front of the house, not more than 15 feet away. She insisted that she called me and did not see me in the tree. I know I never heard her call me. I told her I was in the tree and told her about the vision. Last year around July 2008 I found reports of UFO sightings in the Levittown Bucks County area. One in particular that I saw on a television show {forget which one} was of a UFO that dropped some type of element on a tree in Levittown. I looked up the address on the Internet and found it was less than a mile from where my encounter took place. Looking back now I have come to think I may have been implanted with a foreign object that day years ago in that apple tree. I am disabled and have a bad back and bad ankles. Several years ago I was having problems with my ankles twisting and I was falling down a lot. I had my ankles x-rayed and my right knee. When I went to get my report the x-ray technician asked me if I was ever shot on my right side. I told him no! He then told me that there was a bullet or something metallic on my right side. I never even ever owned a gun and certainly don't remember being shot by one. The x-rays were taken at the Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. Last year I retrieved them and they do show a foreign object {small white oblong shaped} in the back of my right knee. I brought the X-rays to my Primary Care Physician. An Intern was on duty that was not interested in my object at all and dismissed the object as maybe calcium build up but I remember the X-ray technician insisting it was a metal object. I am beginning to think that my lost time experience and bright light vision may have been when that implant was placed into me I was 5 years old. I don't know if this is related but around the time of the Grand opening of Resorts International Casino in Atlantic City New Jersey in 1978 I witnessed a UFO in Philadelphia. It was a ball of light that turned colors faster than my mind could register. It streaked from west to east at a very low attitude and was actually reported in the paper the next day as landing or crashing in the Atlantic Ocean two miles off of Resorts International Casino. I am beginning to think all these events are not just coincidences. This reader realized he encountered strange events in his life and knew that they could all be related to that odd event in his apple tree when he was a little boy. It would have been wonderful to have both objects that were removed from this woman and this man who suffered lost time events. I find it very interesting that both people later had strange objects removed from their bodies. I have read other reports very much like these where confusing events of lost time end with the removal of odd objects or constant nose bleeds occurring to the people involved. I find it ridiculous to feel that all these people are suffering from confusion and delusion when they have had solid evidence removed which obviously was embedded during their lost time event. If this ever happens to you or someone you know please insist the object be kept and demand to have it sent to a reliable lab to find out exactly what it is made of and what function it may being used for. It could mean a discovery that could turn the world into knowing beings instead of those being taken by the unknown! Along with reports of objects being removed from those who have experienced lost time events I have noticed that most if not all of the people I have talked to and interviewed seem to have developed serious health problems. I have listed and realized that many of the health problems fall into the category of systemic and have to wonder if the experiences that took place while they were under going their lost time encounters involve what took place during those events? In fact I am now realizing that there seems to be a definite link between health and Alien/ UFO encounters with many who have had what is considered a close encounter. This realization and personal experience is why I always caution the public to heed my advice and be very careful when finding they are experiencing a sighting or Alien event. It is always best to try to surround yourself with others if possible when dealing with the unknown. Try to protect yourself with other people, lights and shelter when ever possible. It is best to try to avoid close contact with other life forms to ensure your own protection. Remember it is the unknown and we can never risk our safety when dealing with that which we do not understand. The blaze at the 250-year-old Magazine Hotel in Wallasey caused £200,000 worth of damage and left managers Linda and Les Baxendale living in a caravan for three months. A small fabric witch figure which hung from the ceiling of the main bar was stolen two nights before the fire. And with a history of accidents befalling those who dared to touch it, the couple are convinced the two are connected. The official cause was a power surge which blew up the pub's fuse box, starting a fire. Linda, 59, said: "Part of the history of the pub is the two witches and a little devil, all made from brown felt, which were hanging by the bar. "No-one knows exactly how long they were there and we don't know who gave them to the pub but we think they were there for at least 100 years. "They were covered in cobwebs and dust because we were told that if anyone touched them bad things would happen to them." The Baxendales have managed the Magazine Hotel, known locally as the Mags, since 2000 and Linda also ran the pub between 1980 and 1993 with late partner Phil. When they first moved in they received an anonymous phone call warning them not to touch the witches. She said: "We found out that a decorator took them down while he was working here in the 1970s and then was involved in a serious car accident at the top of the road. "Phil once happened to touch the witch by accident and the following day he fell through a trapdoor leading to the cellar and broke his collarbone. "Someone else fell over the following week and broke both his knees. It's spooky." Linda says she was convinced something terrible would happen after she learned about the theft. She said: "One of my bar staff, Charlie, saw a man take the witch from the ceiling on the Friday night and run out. He wasn't a regular because they all know the story. "I suppose I am superstitious because I used to say to the witches 'I tell people not to touch you so look after me' but when I found out one had gone I said 'oh God something bad's going to happen now. "We live above the pub and on Sunday we woke up about 7.45am to the sound of smashing downstairs. "I thought someone had broken in and was using a baseball bat until Les went downstairs and found it was a fire. "It was terrifying. If it wasn't for the prompt response of the fire service the Mags might have burned to the ground." The remaining witch and devil were found in the scorched remains of the bar after the fire on April 18 but Linda says they have since vanished. A friend bought the couple a replacement witch from Pendle which now hangs in their place. They are celebrating the pub's re-opening with a beer and cider festival next week which will include a special brew, Witches Revenge. Click for video ********** BUTTS Arrested In BOOB Murder Case wearecentralpaPolice have arrested a third person in connection with the murder of Samuel Boob. Boob was shot and killed at his home in Potter Township, Centre County, on the morning of August 23rd, 2009. Kermit Butts, 26, of Madisonburg, is accused of driving the suspected killer to and from the crime scene on the morning of the killing. He was charged with aggravated assault and assisting a murder suspect and placed in the Centre County Prison. Police believe that Butts drove Ronald Heichel to the Boob home and picked him up later in the day on August 23rd, 2009. Police believe Heichel shot Sam Boob twice with a shotgun and killed him. Heichel was charged with 1st degree murder. The victim's wife, Mirinda Boob, is accused of working with Heichel to have her husband killed. Police say they have text messages that were sent between her and Heichel, proving that the two were working together to kill Samuel. She has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder. ********** In $1.2 Million Fraud Plot, Four Women Invented A Man Then Killed Him Off tpmmuckraker - Just how low did four California women go to make a quick buck ripping off insurance companies? Six feet under. Federal Bureau of Investigation headquarters today highlighted a recent conviction in a scheme by four individuals in the Los Angeles area to invent a man out of whole cloth, hold his funeral, and then reap in the insurance benefits from his death. A simple scheme this was not -- they went as far as to stage a funeral with paid actors, claim expenses for an extravagant funeral package and buy a burial plot for "Jim Davis." The fake funeral they actually held, however, was a simple affair featuring only a handful of fake family members, and the defendants allegedly pocketed the difference. Jean Crump, a former mortuary employee, was found guilty last month, joining three other women who together defrauded insurance companies by filing $1.2 million in false claims. The scheme began to fall apart once two insurance companies started looking at the claims and assigned an investigator to look more closely at rip-off. Once those in on the scheme got word the feds were snooping around, they unearthed the coffin with the supposed remains of "Jim Davis" and re-filled the casket with a mannequin and cow parts. Then they sent it off to the crematory, and filed false documents stating "Davis" had been cremated and his ashes released into the Pacific Ocean. The 67-year-old Crump was found guilty last month on two counts of wire fraud and one count of mail fraud, according to the U.S. Attorney's office. The other defendants included 61-year-old Faye Shilling, who pleaded guilty to two counts of wire fraud; 64-year-old Barbara Ann Lynn, who previously pleaded guilty in relation to the scheme; and 35-year-old Lydia Eileen Pearce, the mortuary owner who pleaded guilty as well. Fake funerals aren't a tool used exclusively by the bad guys, however. The FBI itself staged a fake funeral to lure members of the Hutaree militia into federal custody back in March. ********** British Residents Phoned 999 Dozens Of Times Over 'Ghost and UFO Worries' Officers say one emergency call came from a man who rang police claiming to have seen the ghosts of ''two old ladies in a white Fiesta'' on a dual carriageway. Other worried calls came from people who spotted ghosts or poltergeists on CCTV cameras and another who said he'd seen a ghost which could ''make me a million quid''. Dozens more calls were also made claiming to have seen aliens including one man reporting that his wife and dog were being abducted by Martians. More than 150 calls, details of which were released under the Freedom of Information Act, claimed to have seen spooks or UFOs were made to Devon and Cornwall Police over the past 15 years. One caller claimed a spectre gave him a ''horrible hairstyle and some dodgy photos. Ghost is Paul Newman.'' In one case in October 2003, the force recorded: ''Caller states he has got a ghost on CCTV. Caller wanted advice on who he could contact as the footage was going to make him a million. Advised to go to the press.'' In July 2004 someone from Newton Abbot in Devon reported seeing a ''ghost driver'' on the A38. The police log recorded: ''Two old ladies in white Fiesta - come onto the A38B carriageway on the off slip facing the wrong way. Stopped on the hard shoulder, trying to reverse back up the off slip.'' A man in Callington, Cornwall, reported his wife and dog being abducted by aliens, while another said he'd seen UFO over a pie factory in Okehampton, Devon. Other 999 calls were made to report ''a long, white cylinder thing like a train in the sky'' and ''orange balls moving slowly upwards and in all different directions''. A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said most of the incidents were logged as ''non attendance'' or ''routine'' although in some cases officers were forced to respond. ''Our call centre operators take many types of calls and the vast majority are for emergencies or relate to non urgent inquiries of one type or another," he said. ''There are occasions though when a more unusual call is received. "These are all dealt with professionally by our highly trained staff who access and process them in an appropriate way.'' NOTE: 999 is the British equivalent to 911 in the U.S. ********** Early Man 'butchered and ate the brains of children as part of everyday diet' dailymail - Early cavemen in Europe ate human meat as part of their everyday diet, new research suggests. A new study of fossil bones in Spain shows that cannibalism was a normal part of daily life around 800,000 years ago among Europe's first humans. Bones from the cave, called Gran Dolina, show signs of cuts and other marks which will have been made by early stone tools. Among the bones of bison, deer, wild sheep and other animals, scientists discovered the butchered remains of at least 11 human children and adolescents. The bones also displayed signs of having been smashed to get the nutritious marrow inside and there was evidence that the victims' brains may also have been eaten. Striek marks on the bone at the base of the skull also indicated that the humans had been decapitated according to the study's co-author José Maria Bermúdez de Castro. Bermudez de Castro, of the National Research Center on Human Evolution in Burgos, Spain, told National Geographic: 'Probably then they cut the skull for extracting the brain. The brain is good for food.' Scientists believe that early man ate fellow humans both to fulfill his nutritional needs and to kill off neighbouring enemy tribes. Bones of humans that had been eaten spanned a period of around hundred thousand years, indicating that the practice was not just confined to times when food was scarce. Because human and animal remains were tossed away together, the researchers speculate that cannibalism had no special ritual role linked to religious beliefs. Bermudez de Castro said that the area surrounding the caves would have been a rich source of food so there would have been little need to turn to cannibalism as a last resort. Instead the practice was probably more widely used as a way of dealing with competition from neighbouring tribes. | Unexplained Lights Continually Appear In Child's Bedroom Posted: 04 Sep 2010 07:49 AM PDT  cbs11tv - Placing a video camera in a baby's room is a common practice these days. But one Dallas couple picked up something very uncommon on their "nanny-cam" -- something they think might be paranormal. Steven Devine uses his night-vision video camera to keep an eye on his two year old son. But one night it appeared something else was keeping an eye on the boy too. "You see it's kind of curled," Divine said pointing to the black and white image on his computer screen. The camera is mounted in the upper corner of the room, right next to the door leading to a hallway. In the video a crib is clearly visible. After a few seconds, what looks like a tube of light apparently appears in front of the crib, moves toward the back of the room and disappears off camera. Seconds later, the video shows an even brighter line of glowing balls, connected by a line of light, moving across the upper portion of the screen. "It will come down and you'll see like these round balls wanting to come down," Divine said. Divine says that isn't the only odd occurrence he's seen in the room. Almost every night after his son's second birthday the night-vision camera picked up strange lights. "We cut all the lights off in the house," recalled Divine. "We put towels under the doors. And you couldn't see your hand if you touched your nose." Despite the couple having blackout shades on the windows, the lights still showed up on the nanny cam. And there are times when the two-year old appears to see something. "A couple of times when he was sitting in the rocking chair, reading a book to him, that he'd point around the room but we didn't know what he was pointing at," said Divine. The light seems to retreat or disappear when the parents check in on the child. Now, after months of seeing it, the lights seldom seem to move around much. "Only when I let strangers in," Divine said. "We've come to the conclusion they're used to us. I figure it's there for a reason. I think it's somebody looking over him." Divine says he and his wife aren't the only people who've seen the strange lights. He claims that more than two dozen other people have witnessed them as well.
