The 1995 American West 564 incident is probably one of the best documented UFO encounters ever recorded. That said, the comprehensive information doesn't come close to giving us a tangible explanation as to what this craft was...or does it? Look back over the evidence and see if there may be something there that deserves further inquiry.

The America West 564 ('Cactus 564') UFO Incident

Type of Case/Report:
MajorCase
Hynek Classification: RV
Shape of Object(s): Cigar
Number of Witnesses: Multiple
Special Features/Characteristics: Pilot/Aircrew, Radar

A west bound America West B-757 airliner encountered a UFO with flashing lights along its length on May 25, 1995. The passenger jet was flying over the panhandle of Texas when it observed the unknown object. The plane was designated as America West Flight 564, and was at 39,000 feet near Bovina, Texas (another account states Tucumcari, New Mexico) when First Officer John J. Waller and a flight attendant observed a row of white lights which flashed from left to right. The lights were below their flying altitude. Waller immediately made radio contact with the Albuquerque FAA FAA Air Route Traffic Control Center during the observation. Nothing could be found that should be flying in that space at that time.

The B-757 continued its course, and the lights began to fall behind it. A group of dark thunderclouds formed, and enabled the UFO to be seen as a cigar-shaped object as its lights illuminated the back drop of the thunderclouds. Waller and his co-pilot estimated the object's length at 300-400 feet. The object was not visible on FAA radar, but one of the controllers contacted the North American Air Defense Command, and was told they NORAD was tracking an unidentified object. But, this object later turned out to be a small plane with a non-functioning transponder.

The next day, the controller made another check with NORAD, and he was told that they had indeed tracked another unknown target the night before that was at first stationary, but then accelerated and stopped again very rapidly. These quick darts were estimated at somewhere between 1,000 and 1,400 mph.

Transcript of Communication Between Crew of the America West flight and the Albuquerque Air Traffic Control Center

The following is a transcript of the communication between the crew of the America West flight and the Albuquerque Air Route Traffic Control center. It also includes several conversations between the Albuquerque ARTC and other locations, including NORAD, that were contacted in an effort try to identify the object. There are three terms used in the following conversations that are not described: TIEBAND, BIGFOOT, and HIGH-BALLS.

9:21pm

AW-564: "Cactus 564 going direct crow, crow 6 arrival Las Vegas."
ABQ: "Cactus 564...Albuquerque Center...good evening"
AW-564: "564 at 39,000'"

9:29pm

AW-564: "Cactus 564...off to our 3:00, got some strobes out there.
Could you tell us what it is?"
ABQ: "Uh, Uh..I'll tell you what, that's some, uh..right now
...I don't know what it is right now. That is a
restricted area that is used by the military out there
during the day time."
AW-564: "Yeah...it's pretty odd."
ABQ: "Hold on ...let me see if anybody else knows around here."

9:30pm

AW-564: "Cactus 564..can you paint that object at all on your radar
ABQ: "Cactus 564...No I don't, and in talkin' to 3 or 4 guys
around here no one knows what that is, never heard about
that."
AW-564: "Cactus 564...nobody's painting it at all?"
ABQ: "Cactus 564 say again?"
AW-564: "I said there's nothing on their radars on the other centers
at all on that (garbled) clear area, ...that object that's
up in the air?
ABQ: "Uh?..it's up in the air?"
AW-564: "A-FFIRMATIVE!!"
ABQ: "No...no one knows anything about it."
What's the altitude about?"
AW-564: "I don't know, probably right around 30,000 or so. And it's
uh...there's a strobe that starts..um, going on counter-
clockwise, and uh...the length is unbelievable."
(???): "Where's this?"

9:31pm

ABQ: "Cannon 121?"
CANNON: "Cannon..go ahead"
ABQ: "Do you guys know if there was anything like a tethered
balloon released that should be above 'tieband'?"
CANNON: "Uh, no, we haven't heard nothin' about it."
(BOTH)" "Uh, ok..(some chuckling), uh, ha.."
ABQ: "A guy at 39,000 says he sees something at 30,000 that's as,
..the length is unbelievable and it has a strobe on it."
CANNON: "Uh huh...?"
ABQ: "This is NOT good..(laughing)..okay..."
CANNON: "Uh, wha..what does that mean?:
ABQ: "(laughing)..I don't know, it's a ufo or something, it's that
Roswell crap again!"
CANNON: "Where's it at now?"
ABQ: "He says it's right in 'tieband'."
CANNON: "It's right in 'tieband'?"
ABQ: "Yeah!"
CANNON: "No, we haven't seen nothin' like that."
ABQ: "Okay, keep your eyes open."
CANNON: "I'll talk to you (mumbled)."

9:34pm

ABQ: "Cactus 564...we checked with Cannon and they don't have
any, uh, weather balloons or anything up tonight. Nobody
up front knows any idea about that. Do you still see it?"
AW-564: "Negative..back where we initially spotted it it was between
the weather and us and when there's lightning you could
see a dark object...and, uh, it was pretty eerie looking.
This 'air coptr..(mumbled)' right here going eastbound...
maybe he'll see it."
ABQ: "Okay.."
AW-564: "First time in 15 years I've ever seen anything like this.
It's probably military in that restricted area."
ABQ: "Cactus 564..you contact Albuquerque Center 132.8,
goodnight."
AW-564: "132.8 contact 564."

9:35pm

ABQ: "Aircraft calling..try again!"
(?): "Center...uh..got time for a quick question?"
ABQ: "Okay..would the question stand-by one please?...
...okay..go ahead."
(?): "(mumbled) 781, what was that cactus guy talking about he
saw?"
ABQ: "I, I don't know, off your right wing about 15-20 miles.
He's saying he saw a large object with a strobe that looked
like it was at 30,000 feet."
(?): "Ah...it's that secret stuff!"

9:36pm

AW-564: "Albuquerque...Cactus 564."
ABQ: "Cactus 564..go ahead."
AW-564: "(garbled)..that passed us earlier on the right. He'll be in
the area in a few minutes, is that correct?"
ABQ: "Yeah, he'll be in there in about 3-4 minutes, at 27,000.
I'll ask him what he sees."
AW-564: "..be at his left-hand side between him and the thunder
storm. Thanks alot, we'll just monitor and listen."
ABQ: "Okay."
AW-564: "Three of us up here saw it!!"
ABQ: "Okay."

9:31pm

ABQ: "I can't find...in the next 2-3 minutes. Be looking off your
right side, if you see anything about 30000 feet, we had
one aircraft reporting simething that wasn't a weather
balloon or anything. It was a long white looking thing with
a strobe on. Let me know if you see anything out there.
(?): "I'll be careful..(garbled)"
ABQ: "He said it was about 30,000'."
(?): "(mumbled) I'm searching for ET."

9:40pm

ABQ: "Cactus 564...you still up?"
AW-564: "Affirmative! 564"
ABQ: "That was south of your position?"
AW-564: "It was north.."
ABQ: "Hawk 85, let's make it out the left window then."
AW-564: "Albuquerque, can we get a chance..Cactus 564."
ABQ: "You know we're all up here huddled up talking about it. When
it lightning'd you could see the dark object. It was like a
cigar shape from the altitude that we could see it..and the
length is what go us, a...sort of confused, because it
looked like it was about 300-400 feet long. So I don't know
if it's a wire with a strobe on it, but the strobe would
start from the left and go right, counter-clockwise...and
it was a pretty eerie looking site, but a, had the strobe..

9:41pm

(brief but solid strong tone heard)
(?): "ALBQUERQUE RADIO?...ALBUQUERQUE RADIO?"
AW-564?: "..and it was just in the lightning..."
(?): (solid strong tone heard again)
(?) "ALBUQUERQUE RADIO?"
ABQ: "Yeah...is this one any better?"
(?): "Yeah."
ABQ: "Oh good! Ha..hey you guys don't know anything about some
kind of weather balloon or a ufo that's out in the vicinity
of Fort Sumner tonight do you?"
(?) "I don't think so...standby."
ABQ: "Okay.."
(?): "At this point the answer to that question is 'no'."
ABQ: "Okay..yeah, this guy sees it up at Tucumcari, says it looks
like it's 300-400 foot long, cylindrical, some kind of
strobe on it, and everything else."
(?) "Well...I would call it...I don't know what it is..yea."
ABQ: "Yeah, okay...I didn't know if you were a science fiction
buff or anything."
(?) "Yea..no, we don't have, we don't have any published "high
balls" today."
ABQ: "Okay..appreciate it."
(?): "Mmm hmm...bye."

9:42pm

AW-564: "Albuquerque, 564...last time...just for our notes we're
going to take a message. was that in a restricted area..and
that was just basically south of Tucumcari when we reported
it?"
ABQ: "Okay...the way you went through, the only restricted area
was on your south side, nothing to the north side...and
those restricted areas are inactive. There shouldn't be
anything going on."

9:44pm

AW-564: "Albuquerque Center..Cactus 564. Thanks for your help and,
uh, could we get your call sign?"
ABQ: "Cactus 564...say again?"
AW-564: "Albuquerque Center..Cactus564..We'll talk to you later.
Before we go could we get your call-sign?"
ABQ: "Cactus 564...mine is 'PP'."
AW-564: "Was that 'tango golf'?"
ABQ: "Pappa Pappa."
AW-564: "Pappa Pappa...thanks alot."

9:48pm

ABQ: "Bigfoot...Albuquerque Sector 87."
BIGFOOT: "Bigfoot's on!"
ABQ: "Yea..I've got a, uh, something unusual and I was wanting
to know if you'all happen to know of anything going on
out here around Tucumcari, New Mexico,...north of Cannon?
I had a couple of aircraft reported something 300-400 foot
long..cylindrical in shape, with a strobe flashing off to
the end of it."
BIGFOOT: "Oh..?"
ABQ: "At 30,000 feet."
BIGFOOT: "Okay...hang on a second."
ABQ: "Yeah, I didn't know if you happen to know of anything
going on out there...no balloons in the area, no nothing
reported?"
BIGFOOT: "Okay, where's this at again?"
ABQ: "It's at, uh, well ya'know where...it's in Tucumcar, New
Mexico, it's about 150 miles to the east of Albuquerque."
BIGFOOT: "Okay, eh...how far from Holloman?"
ABQ: "Eh, Holloman, it looks like it's off the zero-three-zero
of Holloman about 220 miles."
BIGFOOT: "Okay...I think, okay...it's kind'a hard for us to see here.
Okay, they'll be zero for about 200. Um...we don't have
anything going on over there that I know of."
ABQ: "Yeah...I didn't know, we've tried everybody else and
nobody else is...this guy definitely saw it run all the way
down the side of the airplane. Said it was a pretty
interesting thing out there."
BIGFOOT: "Okay, it was at 30,000 feet.."
ABQ: "...30,000 feet."
BIGFOOT: "It was like..long...um.."
ABQ: "Yeah, it's right out of, right out of the X-files. I mean
definite UFO or something like that, I mean."
BIGFOOT: "..and..it..ooohh..ya'll are serious about this (laughing)."
ABQ: "Yeah, he's real serious about that to, and..uh..he looked
at, saw it, no balloons are reported tonight, nothing in
the area..."
BIGFOOT: "It was strobing off the front he said?"
ABQ: "Uh...I think the strobe was off the tail end of it."
BIGFOOT: "Okay...strobe tail end."
ABQ: "He said it was kinda, well it was dark but..(aside to
someone else)..did he say there was lights in it?"
BIGFOOT: "How long did he say it was?"
ABQ: "He said it was 300-400 foot long."
BIGFOOT: "Holy smoke!!"
ABQ: "..and we don't have any air carriers out here so...that
strobing along."
BIGFOOT: "um..the only thing that I can do is , I wonder if any of
our aerostats cut loose or something 'cause we don't
have any aerostats there."
ABQ: "Yeah...not that far to the north."
BIGFOOT: "I mean...to me it would sound like an aerostat, but..I
don't think ours are that big though."

Airline Crew Reports Cigar With Pulsing Lights

Source: Walter N. Webb, Final Report on the America West Airline Case, May 25-26, 1995, Fund for UFO Research

Summary: A cigar-shaped object with a row of brightly flashing lights along its length was observed over the Texas panhandle by the crew of a westward bound America West B-757 airliner on May 25, 1995.

A cigar-shaped object with a row of brightly flashing lights along its length was observed over the Texas panhandle by the crew of a westward bound America West B-757 airliner on May 25, 1995. The case was thoroughly investigated by Walter N. Webb on behalf of the UFO Research Coalition, who interviewed the crew and air traffic controllers. Webb also obtained a copy of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) voice tapes of conversations between airplane and ground during the sighting.

America West Flight 564 was cruising at 39,000 feet near Bovina, Texas, en route from Tampa, Florida, to Las Vegas, Nevada. First Officer John J. Waller and a flight attendant saw, off to their right and somewhat below their altitude, a row of bright white lights which sequenced on and off from left to right. Waller contacted the Albuquerque FAA Air Route Traffic Control Center while the sighting was in progress and checks were made with military installations in the area, but no explanation could be found.

As the airliner proceeded westward, the lights began dropping behind. Then they observed the phenomenon against a background of dark thunderclouds. When the background clouds pulsed with lightning, they could see the silhouette of a dark, wingless, elongated cigar-like object around the strobing lights.

Though they did not know the object's exact distance, the pilot and co-pilot estimated its length to be 300-400 feet.

Air traffic controllers said the object was not visible on FAA radar. One of them contacted the North American Air Defense Command (NORAD), which monitors North American air space by radar, and said that NORAD had confirmed an unidentified radar track in the vicinity. This later proved to be a small aircraft whose transponder was not initially operative.

Next morning the controller said he had checked with NORAD again and was told that they had tracked another, very unusual target in the same general area a short time after the first--something that at first was stationary, then accelerated rapidly and stopped abruptly, repeating this sequence several times. The bursts of speed were computed to be between 1,000 and 1,400 m.p.h. This report, based on the testimony of one air traffic controller, could not be confirmed independently.

Webb filed Freedom of Information Act requests for Government information about the case, and also checked military installations for any activities that might explain the sighting, but no known object or phenomenon could be found that correlated with the sighting.

ABOUT WALTER N. WEBB

Walter N. Web, born in 1934, graduated in biology from Mount Union College, Ohio in 1954 and started a career in astronomy under the teachings of Dr. J. Allen Hynek at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory's Optical Satellite Tracking Program from 1957 to 1958, and now retired from Charles Hayden Planetarium, Boston. He was the astronomy consultant of four UFO investigation associations, a member of MUFON and CUFOS and a UFO witness himself in 1951. He was the first investigator of the Betty and Barney Hill sighting, among others. He found out that among the noise of UFO sighting reports caused by commonplace phenomena, there exists a core of manifestation that are totally unique and that very strong circumstantial evidence points at extraterrestrial visits as their cause.
__________________________

NOTE: this sighting has been well documented but may deserve reinvestigation since the technology now available could possibly result in some answers as well as raise new questions. Below are the key points to this incident:

POINTS TO CONSIDER

- Something very unusual and tangible was aloft because there are several independent reliable witnesses to the UFO.
- NORAD independently reported a radar return....then later denied that they detected anything.
- The incident occurred over air space that was occasionally used for secure military exercises.

HYPOTHESIS

- The military was testing an unusual and secret air craft.
- An uninformed military ATC noticed the object and confirmed the radar return because they were not aware of the exercise.

Despite possible explanations, this case is an excellent example of a confirmed UFO by an experienced crew and confirmed by radar. Personally, I consider it one of the best sightings to date...Lon

Venerable Estate Retains Noble and Haunted History

Posted: 08 Jan 2010 10:22 AM PST

meltontimes - Brooksby Hall is a 16th Century hunting lodge set in the medieval village of Brooksby. The village has long since gone, but the hall's turbulent history has left its ghostly footprints.

The hall is set in an 850-acre estate and in the late 18th and early 19th centuries many famous names owned or leased the hall as they followed the famous Leicestershire hunts.

Many famous and influential people have lived at the hall. The Villiers family lived at the hall from 1235 to 1711 - almost 500 years.

Descendents from the Villiers family include an illustrious list of past Prime Ministers, Lord Avon, Pitt the Younger and Elder, Lord John Russell, George Grevill, the Dukes of Grafton and Portland and Sir Winston Churchill.

The Queen, Queen Mother and the late Princess of Wales and the Spencer family, can all trace their ancestry back to the Villiers family.

The hall has changed hands many times and has had visits from the great and good, including Lord Cardigan of the Charge of the Light Brigade, the original Barclay of Barclays Bank, and Lady Sarah Wilson, aunt of Sir Winston Churchill, as well as Admiral Beatty of Brooksby and The North Sea.

The hall itself has seen its fair share of murder and intrigue all of which has led to many reports of ghostly happenings and apparitions.

Staff and visitors have seen the lady in grey who walks the corridors, have heard footsteps and strange knocking sounds and each year it is said that on midnight on December 21, the longest night of the year, a coach and horses has been heard galloping down the road.

There have been incidents of people hearing a baby crying in parts of the Old Hall and during previous renovations a headless skeleton of a woman carrying the skeleton of a baby were discovered in a hidden room.

THE HISTORY OF BROOKSBY HALL

Around 850AD, Brooksby became a Danish settlement and later Brooksby Hall was the home of the Villiers family until 1712. Of Norman Origin, they are thought to be descended from the Villiers, Seigneurs De I'Isle Adam in Normandy, and were first recorded at Brooksby in 1235. The village of Brooksby disappeared shortly after the Black Death and its site can be seen in the Park. Since then the parish has consisted of the Brooksby Hall family and its staff. Most notable of the Villiers was George, first Duke of Buckingham and favourite of James I and Charles I.

Descendants include Queen Elizabeth II through her mother; also, Sir Winston Churchill and the Spencer family, Lord Avon and at least ten other prime ministers.

After the Villiers, the estate passed through the hands of several notable families including most recently, Earl Beatty of Brooksby and the North Sea.

Brooksby Church was first mentioned in 1220, but is certainly of greater antiquity. It stands in the grounds of the College.

The arms and tombs of the Villiers, together with those of some of the later occupants, can be seen inside.

The location is reported to be haunted. Sounds of a coach being pulled by horse can be heard in the hall - the building was rebuilt in the nineteenth century, the hall being placed where a road once lay. A phantom woman also reportedly roams the building.

Amazon Discovery Possibly Fabled 'El Dorado'

Posted: 08 Jan 2010 09:01 AM PST

An aerial picture of traces of earthworks built by a lost Amazonian civilisation dating to 200AD

guardian - It is the legend that drew legions of explorers and adventurers to their deaths: an ancient empire of citadels and treasure hidden deep in the Amazon jungle.

Spanish conquistadores ventured into the rainforest seeking fortune, followed over the centuries by others convinced they would find a lost civilisation to rival the Aztecs and Incas.

Some seekers called it El Dorado, others the City of Z. But the jungle swallowed them and nothing was found, prompting the rest of the world to call it a myth. The Amazon was too inhospitable, said 20th century scholars, to permit large human settlements.

Now, however, the doomed dreamers have been proved right: there was a great civilisation. New satellite imagery and fly-overs have revealed more than 200 huge geometric earthworks carved in the upper Amazon basin near Brazil's border with Bolivia.

Spanning 155 miles, the circles, squares and other geometric shapes form a network of avenues, ditches and enclosures built long before Christopher Columbus set foot in the new world. Some date to as early as 200 AD, others to 1283.

Scientists who have mapped the earthworks believe there may be another 2,000 structures beneath the jungle canopy, vestiges of vanished societies.

The structures, many of which have been revealed by the clearance of forest for agriculture, point to a "sophisticated pre-Columbian monument-building society", says the journal Antiquity, which has published the research.

The article adds: "This hitherto unknown people constructed earthworks of precise geometric plan connected by straight orthogonal roads. The 'geoglyph culture' stretches over a region more than 250km across, and exploits both the floodplains and the uplands … we have so far seen no more than a tenth of it."

The structures were created by a network of trenches about 36ft (nearly 11 metres) wide and several feet deep, lined by banks up to 3ft high. Some were ringed by low mounds containing ceramics, charcoal and stone tools. It is thought they were used for fortifications, homes and ceremonies, and could have maintained a population of 60,000 – more people than in many medieval European cities.

The discoveries have demolished ideas that soils in the upper Amazon were too poor to support extensive agriculture, says Denise Schaan, a co-author of the study and anthropologist at the Federal University of Pará, in Belém, Brazil. She told National Geographic: "We found this picture is wrong. And there is a lot more to discover in these places, it's never-ending. Every week we find new structures."

Many of the mounds were symmetrical and slanted to the north, prompting theories that they had astronomical significance.

Researchers were especially surprised that earthworks in floodplains and uplands were of a similar style, suggesting they were all built by the same culture.

"In Amazonian archaeology you always have this idea that you find different peoples in different ecosystems," said Schaan. "So it was odd to have a culture that would take advantage of different ecosystems and expand over such a large region." The first geometric shapes were spotted in 1999 but it is only now, as satellite imagery and felling reveal sites, that the scale of the settlements is becoming clear. Some anthropologists say the feat, requiring sophisticated engineering, canals and roads, rivals Egypt's pyramids.

The findings follow separate discoveries further south, in the Xingu region, of interconnected villages known as "garden cities". Dating between 800 and 1600, they included houses, moats and palisades.

"These revelations are exploding our perceptions of what the Americas really looked liked before the arrival of Christopher Columbus," said David Grann, author of The Lost City of Z, a book about an attempt in the 1920s to find signs of Amazonian civilizations. "The discoveries are challenging long-held assumptions about the Amazon as a Hobbesian place where only small primitive tribes could ever have existed, and about the limits the environment placed on the rise of early civilisations."

They are also vindicating, said Grann, Percy Fawcett, the explorer who partly inspired Conan Doyle's book The Lost World. Fawcett led an expedition to find the City of Z but the party vanished, bequeathing a mystery.

Many scientists saw the jungle as too harsh to sustain anything but small nomadic tribes. Now it seems the conquistadores who spoke of "cities that glistened in white" were telling the truth. They, however, probably also introduced the diseases that wiped out the native people, leaving the jungle to claim – and hide – all trace of their civilisation.

With My Own Eyes - A Ghost Story

Posted: 08 Jan 2010 08:39 AM PST

Chris Holly's Paranormal World - My friend Beth is an incredible woman. She teaches in a local college, is a yoga instructor has a husband, a bunch of kids and lives and runs a small horse farm.

Beth is a practical person. Although open minded she really has not had any personal experiences with the paranormal. Beth was the last person on earth I ever thought would call me for advice about a ghost.

Beth told me she was having an on going situation at the house and on the farm and wanted to know if I could drop by and visit with her. Beth has been a good friend for many years and knows she is the last person to think a creaky floor or flickering light was a ghost. I knew if she brought it up at all that something odd must have been going on. I decided to visit her right away to find out what was happening.

As soon as I arrived at Beth's farm she walked me to her house that sat on top of a small hill in front of the farm. Behind the house were paddocks, a big barn, with many different horses along with a pony, a goat, dogs, cats and chickens- I think you get the idea. Beth and her family love animals.

I went to sit down at Beth's large kitchen table when she pulled me away and said, "No, come on it happens in my bathroom."

We walked down the long hall where Beth and her husband's bedroom was the last room in the house facing the farm. Inside her bedroom was a master bathroom with a large window over looking the farm. We stood in the bedroom facing the bathroom door. Beth pointed at the bathroom door and said, "That's where it happens, right at that door."

Beth then told me that two of her older children would sometimes use her bathroom when trying to get ready to go out if other family members were using the other bathrooms.

The problem started about three weeks ago. Her oldest son was in her bathroom taking a shower about 7pm. Standing in Beth's room ironing his shirt at the time was Beth's other teenage son. All of a sudden a violent pounding started on the bathroom door. It was a loud clear knocking.

The boy in the shower started to yell out to his brother in the parent's bedroom ironing, asking him what he wanted. At the same time the boy ironing was yelling to his brother in the bathroom asking him why he was banging on the door. The commotion stopped and both boys continued on with what they were doing.

A few minutes passed when the knocking started up again. This time the pounding was loud and vibrated the entire room. Both boys thought it was the other one doing it and both headed towards to door. The boy inside the bathroom opened the door and started to yell at his brother. The brother in the bedroom returned the screaming both insisting the other had been the door banger. Both boys started to walk out of their parent's bedroom one behind the other when the door pounding started one last time.

Both boys stood silently looking at the other while the pounding shaking door seemed to be knocking and shaking on its own. The boys bravely flung open the door to look inside the bathroom. It was empty. They then ran the water in the shower and sink and tried hard to repeat the noise. Nothing happened. They searched inside and outside the house yet found nothing that would cause the door to be pounded in the way that it was. The two young men were confused and quickly reported the event to the rest of the family.

A few days passed when my friend was home in her kitchen with her oldest son who was the boy who was in the shower during the first incident. Suddenly they could hear hard loud knocking coming from the back of the house. They followed the noise to the end of the house where the first incident occurred. When they searched the house once again they found nothing out of the ordinary.

The loud knocking continued with an incident occurring every few days. The family continued to search their property, check the pipes, and check for construction problems to try to find the cause of this strange happening. They came up empty handed.

This is the point I enter the picture. Beth knew I was friendly with a psychic who was sensitive yet rarely used her gifts as she was not always able to receive information. Rather then disappoint people she simply kept her abilities private. Beth wanted me to bring the psychic to her small farm to see if she could sense anything odd going on.

I told my psychic friend about the happenings at Beth's house and asked if she would like to take a ride over to the horse farm to see if she had any feelings about the place. I was very surprised when my psychic pal agreed right away to go. I didn't know what to think of it, as I never knew my psychic pal to be a horse lover or animal lover.

I arranged to take my psychic friend to Beth's horse farm during the afternoon when most of the family was out. My psychic friend wanted to visit the farm with as little commotion as possible around so she could concentrate on the energy around the place.

While driving to the horse farm my psychic friend warned me she most likely would not be able to pick up anything at all. She did not want me or Beth to be disappointed. She also told me that she was not use to being around animals like the horses and did not know if she would be able to pick up anything in this type of environment. I told her we did not have our hopes up and just wanted her to take a quick tour of the farm.

We arrived at Beth's farm. I entered the long road that drove past the house and back to the paddocks and open areas of the farm and barn.

My psychic friend became silent. As we drove past the house she yelled for me to stop. I jammed on the brakes and watched as she sat silently looking at the house. She then told me to drive on. I drove past the chickens, past the goat's fenced area and on to the barn. Along side of the barn was a large fenced in paddock with two horses in it. A pinto and a big brown horse with a white stripe on its nose. Both horses stood munching feed out of large feeding pails.

The psychic yelled for me to stop. She startled me with her demand. Once again I slammed on my brakes. She sat silently looking out her window. She threw open the truck door before I could react and climbed up on the paddock fence. The psychic beckoned to the large brown horse with an arm gesture while softly calling for the horse to come to her.

I sat without making a move watching as the large brown horse ran over to my psychic friend. She pulled the head of the horse to her face and started to pet and talk to the animal. They stood together for a few minutes like that until the psychic told the horse to show her something. The horse turned and trotted over to the opposite corner of the paddock near the entrance of the barn. The psychic jumped back into my truck and directed me to drive over as close as possible to where the horse now stood.

The psychic once again was out of the truck the moment I came to a stop and was back standing with the horse. The psychic knelt near the horse and ran her hands over the ground by the corner of the barn. This went on for about five minutes. She then stood up and walked into the barn. I got out of the truck and went into the barn after her. She waved for me to stay away. I stopped and waited at the entrance watching as she examined every stall and section of the big long barn.

When she was done she marched towards me down the middle of the barn and told me to get back into the truck. We drove around the farm for a few minutes until she told me to return to the house but this time to park in the back of it near the part of the house that had the door-banging event.

We sat silently. I knew not to speak or break her thoughts. When she was ready she turned to me and said. " There are people buried here. I think they may have been Indians. They are tormenting the brown horse. They are confused about this family being here and especially concerned about two young men who live here.

I did not know what to say. She went on and told me how the brown horse was very unhappy and being tormented by spirits or lost souls who once lived on this land and are confused about the horses. She told me that they seem to be trying to take care of or protect the horses but instead are making the horse miserable. The psychic turned to me and said, " The horse wants help".

She continued by telling me that the farm had darkness about it due to the fact the people who once were here were hanging around the land and not moving on. She told me she thought they were Indians and we should research the area.

The psychic also told me she was sure that the banging on the back of the house was from these lost souls or ghosts. She told me it was just a warning to let the family know they were on the Indians land. She thought the banging was being brought on by the families two tall strong young sons who tended the horses. She thought that they somehow were a threat to the lost souls still wandering the farm.

I drove to the front of the house where Beth stood waiting for us. The psychic repeated in detail all she told me about the farm to Beth. Beth stood silently listening to every word the psychic told her.

Beth told us both that indeed her farm was part of a large Indian settlement at one time. She was not at all shocked at what the psychic reported feeling.

The psychic gave Beth a list of things to do to ease the situation before it became more intense or increased. The psychic felt the horse needed a rest from the torment of the lingering souls and suggested Beth get right to what she thought should be done to calm the restless souls.

Beth was to obtain a smudge stick, a cross, salt water, clean all dead matter like old leaves from the barn and house area and talk to the spirits while cleansing her land.

The psychic knew of people in the area who may help with this cleansing and agreed to arrange a meeting for Beth as to find out the correct method of dealing with this situation.

I did not see Beth for about two weeks after that meeting. Beth did meet with those who gave her ideas on how to handle her seemingly haunted Indian land.

Beth did a few smudging cleanings of her land by using certain herbal smudge sticks. She would burn the smoky stick while covering the borders of her farm and all that stood in it. She would tell the spirits she was there to care for the land and the horses and that the young men where her sons. She also asked the spirits over and over to let go of the land and move on to the light. Beth did this and more a few times over.

One late afternoon I stopped over to visit Beth. She was glad to see me, as she wanted someone with her when she did a cleaning and was planning to do one just as I arrived.

It was still light outside but turning quickly into dusk and I was anxious to have Beth do what she had to do so we could leave the darkness of the large open farm and head for the bright lights and warmth of her house.

I drove my truck over to the front of Beth's barn. I met Beth in the barn where she was lighting the smudge stick to smoke out the barn and clean away all bad energy. She walked into each stall and every part of the barn speaking clearly to the spirits that may be lingering. Beth was strong and serious as she spoke to that which did not belong here at this time. She told them to leave and move on. She promised it was her time to take care of the land and horses and they needed to move on to their own destiny.

I watched without interrupting as Beth carried out her ritual as instructed by those who knew how to sooth the souls of those who lived there before.

Beth finished and told me she had to run up to the house for a second. She told me to wait for her in the barn, as she did not want to leave the animals alone while the smell of the smudge sticks lingered in the area. She told me to just stay around and keep my eyes open until she returns.

I was not comfortable at all alone in the barn. I walked over and got back into my truck. Beth's dog came crying at my door. I let the dog jump in and sit with me in the truck. I backed up and faced the barn so I could see both inside it and into the large paddock on the side of it.

Beth's dog began to whimper softly. I looked over at him and then to where he was looking into the large paddock next to the barn. I caught the quick movement of what looked like a large gray horse cross the field heading at a full run for the back of the paddock. I started to panic as I thought one of the horses was upset by the smell of the smudging and was trying to get out and run away. I pointed my truck towards the paddock and turned the lights into the field. I could see the pinto and the brown horse as always but no other animals.

My first thought was that the back gate was left open to the paddock during Beth's smudging ritual. I feared the large gray horse I saw run across the field got out and was running away. I quickly drove my truck along the side road that takes you to the back of the barn and other paddocks on the farm.

The dog and I drove quickly to the backside of the barn. The gates were all closed. I got out of the truck with the dog sticking tightly to my legs. I looked all over but did not see that gray horse anywhere on the farm. I walked over to the back paddock and climbed up on a fence overlooking the back of the farm. The dog was next to me and started to bark a high-pitched strange bark cry type of thing.

That is when I saw it. A figure following what looked like a gray-white haze into the woods that lined the back of the farm. The figure looked to be a man wearing a grayish white overalls or jumpsuit as it was all the same color. The figure was walking at a fast pace and followed the larger object into the woods.

The dog barked and whimpered. I did not know what to do or think. I ran back to the truck, the dog jumped over me into the passenger seat and together we headed full speed towards the house.

I started blowing the horn as I neared the house. Beth came running out. I told her what I had just seen. I thought maybe her neighbors walked their animals around her farm or cut across her land. Beth told me she did not have any neighbors in the back of her land and it was all woods. Beth got into the truck with her dog and we went back to show her where we saw the figures walking in her back paddock.

I would not get out of the truck. I showed my friend the spot. She was confused as no one was ever any where near her farm. I then asked her where she kept the gray horse as I thought he got away. My friend looked at me like I had lost my mind. She told me she did not own a gray horse. I started to feel a little sick inside.

I did not know what I had seen. I felt sick and weak inside and wanted to leave the farm. Beth tried to comfort me but I just wanted to leave and quickly drove home.

The next morning while sitting drinking my morning tea telling my family about my adventure at Beth's farm the phone rang. It was Beth. The psychic had just stopped by to see Beth to ask her if we were aware the spirits were gone? She told Beth she could see them leaving and knew that they no longer were lingering around her farm. Beth told her of my encounter with the figure and phantom ghost horse. The psychic just laughed and said, "I know, she saw the last of them leave". She then told Beth that the great white spirit horse goes first into the light to be followed by the last warrior.

I have no idea about what happened at Beth's farm. I know the brown horse is happy now and bounds around the place like a young pony. I know the dog runs around and never whimpers. I know all the knocking and banging has ended in the house. I also know I saw with my own eyes a white ash colored horse that did not exist, a gray haze and a ash colored figure cross Beth's land that day with my own eyes. It was not a man. It walked with the haze through a fence into the woods without losing a step, and it did it right in front of me.

I claim nothing more then the fact this happened. I watched whatever it was at Beth's farm leave.

And I saw it with my own eyes!
