tampabay - In the eerie quiet of the night, Janice Strand and her group climb to the Tampa Theatre's projection booth to speak to a dead guy named Fink.

"Are you there?" she asks into the air.

"Fink, we'd like to talk to you."

Then, after a long pause, "Is anyone there?"

The group, frozen in attention, waits for a sign. Any sign. When nothing happens, they move on, hoping the spirit is just out to lunch.

Strand proceeds to tell the story of Fink, a.k.a. Foster "Fink" Finley, who worked as a theater projectionist for 35 years before his death in 1965. A short, balding guy who took the bus to work, Fink arrived early every morning to shave and enjoy a cup of cafe con leche.

Fink fell ill with cancer and one day collapsed in the projection booth. Two months later, he died.

The next year, strange things started happening in the theater, according to its archives. A jingling of keys. Ghost-like apparitions. The scent of old-fashioned shaving lotion.

Could it be Fink?

The possibility has puzzled theater workers for decades and added to the lure of one of Tampa's oldest and most treasured buildings. Opened in 1926, the elaborate movie palace is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

In November, the theater started Late-Night Ghost Hunts for up to 30 people as a unique way to promote the theater and share its rich history. The next tour, on Jan. 23, sold out more than six weeks in advance. Another is in the works but hasn't been scheduled.

The 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. tour covers almost every cranny of the theater, including the orchestra pit, basement, green room and other areas not seen on daytime tours. Explorers split off into small groups carrying electromagnetic frequency meters and a noncontact thermometer to monitor atmospheric changes potentially caused by paranormal activity. Most everyone has a camera or a video recorder.

Guests are eager to see something supernatural, but the tour guides are careful not to declare every blip on the meter or dip in temperature a ghost. Rather they say things like, "That was unusual," or "that's very interesting," and tell documented stories about past activity. At midnight, everyone breaks for snacks, dessert and wine.

"We have a lot of occurrences, but can you say there's ghosts? I don't really know," said Strand, a fan of "all things creepy," who put together the tours as the theater's programming and marketing assistant. Strand hasn't seen any ghosts in her 1 1/2 years with the theater, but has sensed plenty bizarre. She's heard keys jingle and gotten a whiff of the perfume-like shaving lotion.

During the first ghost tour, guests experienced some unusual activity but nothing that screamed ghost. A few said the batteries on their fully charged cameras died, which seems to happen at the theater quite often for unapparent reasons.

One guide, Bob Pierce, said two nine-volt batteries burned up in his backpack while he was in the green room. (He assured the batteries weren't touching.) Lea Williamson, a longtime Tampa Theatre member, took some interesting photographs of orb-like objects in the mezzanine area.

"I still think it's a camera anomaly," she said. "But I don't know."

The guides warned dust, reflective surfaces, windows and even bugs could affect photos. Wiring and copper tubing could send the EMF meter into a beeping frenzy.

Still, ghost or no ghost, participants enjoyed the behind-the-scenes look at the 83-year-old working theater. They saw the green room where David Byrne, Ani DiFranco and other celebrities relaxed before concerts. They saw the 10-horsepower blower that powers the organ. They saw the original light board that controls the 99 stars in the theater's ceiling.

Guests ranged from history buffs to serious ghost hunters to one couple celebrating their wedding anniversary. Admittedly, walking through the bowels of an empty 1,446-seat theater in the middle of the night was spooky, they said.

The tour ended with a photo on the lobby staircase. "Oh no, the batteries are dying," said guide Tara Schroeder as she aimed the camera.

Everyone laughed.

Not every ghost story is true.

For many years, there have been cases where the 'human mutilation' phenomenon has been suspected as a cause or effect to human deaths though, most cases have been officially ruled accidental.

A 1994 abduction case represented one of the most disturbing deaths of a human being ever reported. The victim was subjected to brutal mutilation, though the reality is that what happened to him is far more disturbing than brutality. This was systematic mutilation. There was specific surgical skill and human anatomy knowledge used as the perpetrators removed the left eye, the left ear, the lips, the tongue, and the jaw bone. As well, two perfectly round holes were incised into the chest and the entire rectal trait was removed.

The body was found near the Guarapiranga reservoir, located south of the city of São Paulo, Brazil. A actual copy of the autopsy report can be found here.

From the autopsy report: "We observed the removal of the right and left orbital areas, emptying of the mouth cavity, pharynx, oropharynx, neck, right and left armpit area, abdomen, pelvic cavity, right and left groin area."

"The axillary regions on both sides showed soft spots where organs had been removed. Incisions were made on the face, internal thorax, abdomen, legs, arms, and chest. Shoulders and arms have perforations of 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter where tissue and muscles were extracted. The edges of the perforations were uniform and so was their size. The chest had shrunk due to the removal of internal organs."

"Cause of death...acute haemorhage in multiple traumatisms. There is a component of causa mortis by vagus stimulation" (implying cardio-respiratory arrest caused by extreme pain). "The victim shows injuries with vital reaction characteristics, i.e., there is the component "torture". The suggested modus operandi is: incisions in soft parts and natural orifices using sucking devices".

We are to assume that the victim was alive during these procedures and most likely succumbed to blood loss and extreme pain. Some may ask if humans could have performed this horror...and I would have to say 'yes'. But the circumstances make that theory less than likely since it appears no restraints or weapons were involved and the residents of this area would not have the expertise to accomplish this feat.

Another incident was that of Sgt. Jonathan Lovette, who worked at the White Sands Missile Range. While on a two-man mission to collect debris from outside of the base perimeter, something unusual occurred. Lovette's companion returned in terror to the base and claimed he had seen Lovette whisked into a flying disk by some kind of tentacle-like appendage which descended from the vehicle. Days later, Lovette's body was found, mutilated almost beyond recognition. As in many cattle mutilations, the genitals, rectum and eyes had been cored out and the body was drained of blood. Lovette's companion was initially charged with murder but the charges were later dropped.

In Great Britain there was the case of Zygmunt Adamski. An immigrant from Poland who had come to Great Britain during the war and settled there afterwards. The 57 year-old Mr. Adamski disappeared one night while walking to a local shop to buy some potatoes. His body was found four days later at the top of coal pit, approximately 30 miles away. There were strange burn marks on his body, and it looked as if some kind of ointment had been used to treat them.

Discussions with local health experts were unable to identify this unknown ointment. Local officials had seen strange lights in the sky on the night Adamski's body was found. The coroner pronounced the death as baffling and said that it's mysterious nature lent credence to the "UFO theory."

These incidents are just a small sample of this phenomenon. If these mutilations were carried out by an intelligent alien species then the question must be asked...what are their real intentions? People go missing daily. Hundreds of thousands have never been found...without a trace. Are we considered a commodity to alien species?

Engineer and geologist Phil Schneider, who died in the 1990's due to a suspicious death claimed that world military and political powers have been in, "constant conflict with the outer space alien" both underground and on the surface. These aliens he stated, included the Small Greys, the Large Greys, and the Reptilians.

'Demon Cat' Carcass Found In Arizona

themorningstarr - Hunters in San Carlos, Arizona have found the carcass of an unidentified beast with elongated fangs and possible wings.

The carcass resembles that of a domestic cat, but with several noticeable differences. The animal is described as "sabertoothed" because it's incisor teeth are elongated into fangs, the front limbs of the creature are also longer than an ordinary cat's legs and appear to have an extra joint giving the appearance of large feet. Even more bizarrely the carcass reveals evidence of possible wings protruding from the animal's back.

The carcass was found by two hunters in a remote area near San Carlos, they passed the remains on to Jess Underberg from Globe, AZ. who is hoping to try and identify the strange looking beast.

The long fangs and elongated front limbs are characteristic of descriptions given of the infamous "goat sucker" or chupacabras. However most chupacabras sightings are dismissed as coyotes with mange, not felines with wings.

Russia's Secret Plan to Save Earth

smh - Russian scientists will soon meet in secret to work on a plan for saving Earth from a possible catastrophic collision with a giant asteroid in 26 years, the head of Russia's space agency said on Wednesday.

"We will soon hold a closed meeting of our collegium, the science-technical council to look at what can be done" to prevent the asteroid Apophis from slamming into the planet in 2036, Anatoly Perminov told Voice of Russia radio.

"We are talking about people's lives," Perminov was quoted by news agencies as telling the radio station.

"Better to spend a few hundred million dollars to create a system for preventing a collision than to wait until it happens and hundreds of thousands of people are killed," he said.

The Apophis asteroid measures approximately 350 metres in diameter and RIA Novosti news agency said that if it were to hit Earth when it passes nearby in 2036 it would create a new desert the size of France.

Perminov said a serious plan to prevent such a catastrophe would probably be an international project involving Russian, European, US and Chinese space experts.

Interfax quoted him as saying that one option would be to build a new "space apparatus" designed solely for the purpose of diverting Apophis from a collision course with Earth safely.

"There won't be any nuclear explosions," Perminov said. "Everything will be done according to the laws of physics. We will examine all of this."

In a statement dated from October and posted on its website, the US space agency NASA said new calculations on the path of Apophis indicated "a significantly reduced likelihood of a hazardous encounter with Earth in 2036."

"Updated computational techniques and newly available data indicate the probability of an Earth encounter on April 13, 2036, for Apophis has dropped from one-in-45,000 to about four-in-a-million," NASA said.

RIA Novosti said the asteroid was expected to pass within 30,000km of Earth in 2029 - closer than some geo-stationary satellites - and could shift course to hit Earth seven years after that.
